The 5 Best Tours in Edmonton for a Day You Won’t Forget

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Variety of Experiences: We looked for tours that offer something beyond the typical stops—whether it’s food, history, nature, or something completely unexpected.

Local Insight: We prioritized tours led by locals who actually know the city and can bring it to life with stories, humour, or insider tips—not just someone reading from a script.

Booking Ease and Accessibility: We chose tours that are easy to book online, clearly explain what’s included, and offer reasonable scheduling options.

Engagement and Atmosphere: We focused on experiences that felt personal and memorable, not rushed or overly scripted.

Fair Pricing: We picked tours that offered great value and actually felt worth the spend for a fun day in Edmonton.

Planning a fun day in Edmonton sounds easy—until you’re three hours into doom-scrolling event calendars and wondering if “just going for coffee again” counts as a plan. Trust us, we’ve been there.

That’s exactly why we started trying out local tours. Some were amazing, a few were… character-building, and at least one left us inside a brewery longer than expected (zero complaints).

If you’re bored with the usual routine and need something that won’t make you fake a smile, these Edmonton tours are worth checking out.

How much does it cost to join tours in Edmonton?

Tours in Edmonton typically range from $15 to $100+ per person, depending on the type and duration. Walking and street art tours usually start around $20-$35, while specialty tours can go up to $80-$120.

RiverWatch EcoFloats made it to our list for their award-winning guided river floats that offer a unique way to experience Edmonton from the water.

We decided to try it ourselves after hearing people talk about how fun and surprisingly exciting the tour was—and they weren’t wrong.

The float took us down the North Saskatchewan River with a guide who didn’t just talk to us but really engaged with everyone on board. Along the way, we learned about local wildlife, river health, and some of the environmental changes affecting the area.

It wasn’t overwhelming or lecture-like—it felt more like a relaxed, open conversation that just happened to take place in a raft. One guest we chatted with said it was the most peaceful part of their entire summer.

What stood out to us was how natural everything felt—there was room for laughs, quiet reflection, and curiosity all in one go. It’s a slower pace, but that’s what made it memorable.

If there’s any drawback, it’s that the tours only run during certain months, and time slots fill up pretty quickly. So, if you’re thinking of joining a float, planning ahead is definitely the way to go.

Pros

  • Award-winning guided floats
  • Educational tour
  • Great for all ages
  • Small group sizes
  • Environmentally focused mission
  • River and city insight
  • Feast and float option

Cons

  • Limited to summer months
  • Spots fill up quickly

Fun, informative, and relaxing

“We thoroughly enjoyed our float yesterday.  Erica, our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly and we had a lot of fun.  Just the right amount of paddling balanced with relaxing time on the river.  I would definitely do this again and recommend to friends and family.  What a wonderful way to spend a summer day on the river and learn at the same time about the river and stories of Edmonton.  Thank you so much!”

Eye-opening and enriching with expert insightful guiding

“I have always viewed our river valley as one of the treasures of living in Edmonton, but after experiencing the Riverwatch Ecofloat, I have a far greater appreciation for its valuable place in our city.  Our excellent guide, Erica, was a font of information about the historical, geographical, ecological and cultural importance of this waterway.  I only wish that every Edmontonian could have the opportunity of this amazing experience.”

We tried Urban Pedal Tours last summer and didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as we did—it was honestly a blast.

It’s a 15-seat group bike where everyone pedals while the host steers and keeps things light with music and local tips. It sounded a bit quirky at first, but once we got going, it just worked. Felt like part brewery crawl, part workout, and part moving party.

We picked the Whyte/Happy Beer Street Tour and hit a few breweries—one even gave us a quick peek behind the scenes, which was a cool bonus.

We also chatted with a few folks who’d done the Downtown Party Tour before and came back for more. The stops, pacing, and small things like cubbies for bags and roof cover made it feel pretty seamless.

What we truly love about it is how customizable the experience is. From bachelorette themes to team-building rides with company branding, there’s clearly a lot of flexibility depending on your group’s vibe.

Plus, the hosts know how to read the room—ours adjusted the pace and playlist as the tour went on, which kept things feeling easygoing.

That said, if you’re not into pedalling or want something slower-paced, this might feel a bit too active.

Pros

  • Fun, active group experience
  • Variety of themed tours
  • Private and public options
  • Custom branding & group themes
  • Thoughtful design features
  • Guides tailor the pace, music, and vibe
  • Safe and regulated

Cons

  • Physically demanding

Fun, energetic, and well-hosted

“Went on this bike tour for a friend’s birthday. Right away started with laughs as the first bike we were on broke. No worries! We had barely left the compound so we were able to hop onto another bike. Know that your hosts will keep the tunes pumping, you laughing and your drinks cold! Loved our first stop, but wasn’t a huge fan of the second stop unfortunately. The lighting was too dark, drinks were pricey and service wasn’t great. Killed the vibe and made us ready for bed 😅 thankfully getting back on the bike with our music and daylight helped!! Thanks to our amazing hosts (whom I forget their names of course) for making this a great experience. *be ready for a workout*”

Accommodating and well-organized

“We booked Urban Pedal Tours to celebrate a birthday.  It was so much fun!! Everyone had a blast, we had 12 people aged 25-40 years.  We pre purchased the drinks, and had a fun playlist ready for the bike.  It is a bit of a work out to pedal, but so fun.   Urban Pedal Tours was also very accommodating and let us book an earlier time than what was available online.  We wished the tour was longer than 2 hours!  Highly recommend, and can’t wait to do it again.  Our two female hosts were lovely as well.”

3. Pedal Pub Edmonton

One of our team members booked a tour with Pedal Pub Edmonton, and after hearing all about it, we could see why people keep coming back for more.

The flagship route runs along Whyte Avenue and Happy Beer Street, with two or three bus stops packed into a two-hour ride.

You’re on a giant, Dutch-built party bike—everyone pedals while the pilot steers and keeps the energy high with music, jokes, and just the right level of party vibes.

According to our team member, the group felt like old friends by the second stop.

Beyond the regular route, what impressed us was how well-suited Pedal Pub is for private events. It’s a fun option for celebrations like birthdays, bachelorette parties, and even corporate get-togethers.

The pilot also did a great job keeping the vibe fun but under control. There were clear rules—no outside booze, no drinking beforehand, and waivers were a must. That structure made the whole thing feel more relaxed, not less.

The only hiccup? Comfort can be an issue if you’re tall—the legroom isn’t great, and it can get a bit awkward trying to keep pace.

Pros

  • Iconic party tour
  • Dutch-built party bike
  • Licensed to serve alcohol on board
  • Flexible private and public booking options
  • Safety and structure
  • Convenient amenities

Cons

  • Cramped legroom for taller riders

Fun, lively, and memorable

“We rented the pedal pub for a bachelorette party. It was a blast! Everyone had so much fun. The enthusiasm and entertainment Sara and Bridget brought was incredible! Would highly recommend!”

Energetic and well-hosted

“We had a 10/10 experience on our pedal pub tour! Daniel and Jeremiah brought out all the stops to give us a great time. Awesome music, great drinks, and top notch entertainment! Definitely will be doing a pedal pub again! Thanks for the great night!”

We hopped on an Edmonton Brewery Tours shuttle a few months ago to see what their tours were all about, and we left genuinely impressed—not just by the beer but by how well the whole experience was put together.

We did the standard Shuttle Brewery Tour, which took about 3.5 hours and included stops at three local breweries. One of the breweries gave us a behind-the-scenes walkthrough that actually felt informative instead of just for show.

The guide who rode with us was clearly passionate about craft beer—he called himself a “beer geek,” and we believed him. He walked us through tasting notes, explained brewing methods, and kept the vibe friendly and fun without going overboard.

The small group setup helped too—there were only about ten of us, which made it easy to ask questions and chat with other people between stops.

We talked to a couple of folks who had tried the longer Craft Beer Tour and the Distillery Tour. They all raved about how much you get out of the tours—lunch, goodie bags, even discounts on merch.

We also love that you can book private tours if you have enough people, which is a solid option for birthdays or work outings.

If we had to nitpick, the non-refundable booking policy might be a downside if your plans aren’t set in stone. Once you’re locked in, you’re locked in—so it’s definitely a tour you’ll want to plan for.

Pros

  • Well-rounded shuttle tour experience
  • Passionate, knowledgeable guides
  • Small group format
  • Multiple tour options
  • Private and corporate flexibility
  • Extras included

Cons

  • Non-refundable booking policy

Informative, passionate, and fun

“We recently took a beer tour through this company. Outstanding tour. The passion and talent shown by our local brewers is second to none. Plentiful samples, and all of good beer. Everyone was helpful and willing to ask any and all questions that came their way.

Our tour guide, Dinah, was a blast. She was very knowledgeable about local history and beer, and we all had quite a few laughs. Highly recommend this tour.”

Knowledgeable and well-curated

“We had a fantastic time with Edmonton Brewery Tours! Our tour leader, Chris, was incredibly knowledgeable and personable (and also brews her own beer). Samples were plentiful, and lunch was delicious – well worth the price of a ticket.”

We tried the Food Bike Tour not too long ago, and it was easily one of the memorable ways we’ve explored the city.

The whole concept blends cycling with food stops—so instead of just riding around or hitting restaurants separately, you’re doing both in one experience.

We opted for the e-bikes (highly recommended if you’re not big on hills), and the pace was super manageable, even for casual riders.

Our tour lasted about four hours, with stops at a mix of local spots—some we already knew and others we’d probably never have discovered on our own.

What stood out wasn’t just the food (which was generous and way better than just “samples”) but the way each stop gave us a chance to meet owners or chefs and hear the stories behind the dishes.

The route itself was just as much a part of the experience. We biked through the River Valley, passed by some skyline views, and cruised through neighborhoods that made the ride feel more scenic than strictly urban.

The only downside? Once you’re deep into the ride and full from all of the food, getting back on the bike—even with the assist—can feel like a bit of a struggle.

Pros

  • Seamless blend of cycling + dining
  • E-bike friendly
  • Engaging local hosts
  • Small group experience
  • Scenic, diverse route
  • Behind-the-scenes vendor access
  • Good value and inclusions

Cons

  • Post-meal pedaling can feel tough

Educational and versatile

“We first tried the FOOD BIKE TOUR last year and it was AMAZING! This was an awesome tour to enjoy foods and drinks from local businesses around the city and exercise at the same time! I never really rode a bike, let alone go on trails before so i was scared to try it at first. I gave it as a gift to my BF so we could do something fun together while exploring the city! The “tour guides” were friendly, fun, and made sure we were all comfortable as we rode our bikes. We learned lots about the local businesses and got to try some of their stuff! I definitely recommend it! Was already so excited to book again this year but covid happened. So, we tried a few of their Chefs Kits and it was also an awesome idea! Especially for someone who doesnt really cook, (like me) but wants to try cooking their fave dishes from their fave local restaurants. If youre looking for a perfect gift for a friend, a loved one,or even just something to enjoy from your own home with friends,i definitely recommend trying out their Chef’s Kit!”

Delicious and beginner-friendly

“First time on the food bike tour and it was such an amazing experience. We had so much fun with the tour guides, going along the beautiful scenic routes and getting a taste of various delicious eats in Edmonton. I highly recommend if you’ve never tried and it’s super easy to follow if you’ve never tried an e-bike before.”
