How much does ESL training cost in Edmonton?
A basic ESL class costs at least $20, but taking the ESL test may cost at least $75. This is just an estimate. This will depend on the selected ESL training center and its fees.

Vteach Learning Centre is one of the rare spots in Edmonton where you can find both K-12 tutoring and targeted ESL exam prep under one roof.
We found their Cogito program really impressive. It keeps students on track and helps them reach higher academic goals.
The structured environment really makes a difference. One parent told us her daughter’s math scores jumped two grade levels in just one term.
What also stood out to us was their ESL testing setup. They’ve created a calm test-taking haven for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program).
One student said the soundproof rooms and attentive staff made it easier to focus, even with pre-exam nerves.
We also like that they’ve partnered with XYNA International. Test results usually come in quicker than expected—some students told us they saw their scores in just 3 days.
The only real drawback is for students looking for hands-on business English classes. While Vteach does offer general English CAEC (Canadian Adult Education Credential) classes, there isn’t a dedicated business ESL course yet.

2. English Training Center

For more than ten years, the English Training Center has helped students from around the world reach their English goals. They welcome learners at every level, from beginners to advanced.
They offer four types of ESL classes: Basic ESL, CELPIP training, IELTS training, and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) preparation.
One student told us they liked how the Basic ESL class uses real-life situations to practice listening, reading, and writing. It made the lessons feel more useful.
The CELPIP prep class is also hands-on. A student we spoke to mentioned that the instructor’s realistic questions helped them feel more confident answering in everyday situations.
For IELTS training, the instructors break down tricky questions and help students understand exactly what’s being asked. Many people told us this has helped alleviate their test nerves.
While students do need to register ahead of time for the TOEFL Prep class, we appreciate that students have the opportunity to practice with real past TOEFL tests.
However, the required placement test can slow down the enrollment process. One person complained about waiting at least two weeks before starting an ESL class.

3. KTI English

KTI English is our go-to for companies that want corporate ESL training tailored to their team’s daily work.
KTI works directly with each company to build custom training. Their lessons focus on the language skills teams actually use, such as giving presentations, running meetings, and interacting with clients.
For example, a logistics company we spoke to learned industry-specific terms like “load securement protocols” that they could use right away on the job.
Businesses also love the helpful on-site group training sessions. KTI works around the work schedule, so it doesn’t disrupt the normal workday at all.
Their one-on-one tutoring is just as personalized. One student told us he wanted to sound more natural before pitching to investors.
So, his tutor focused on tricky vowel sounds in words like “growth” and “gross.” He said it made him feel much more confident when presenting.
We also like that KTI’s team helps students practice when to pause during presentations. These small details make business talks go a lot smoother.
The only real downside is that KTI can be a bit hard to reach at first. One student said it took three tries to get someone on the phone.

Their classes are well-organized, so students know what to expect each week.
For the most part, their group classes are on the smaller side (10 students or fewer). Students we spoke to mentioned they get plenty of personal attention during class, so their questions never go unanswered.
For students who are short on time, their crash courses cover the essentials quickly. The training includes everything students need to pass both the IELTS and CELPIP exams.
They also offer a 4-week training focused on improving English communication. Students recommend this course because the instructors are really helpful in building effective speaking skills.
The instructors practice with students for interviews, presentations, and public speaking to build up their confidence.
Our only complaint about this company is that their in-person classes fill up quickly.

Their communicative approach is all about helping students speak English confidently in real-life situations, without stressing over mistakes. We love how immersive the lessons feel, with plenty of practical exercises that keep things interesting.
Their sociocultural approach extends far beyond just grammar. Teachers bring in audio, video, and interactive resources to make lessons more engaging.
One student shared that this has helped them start thinking more fluently in English and express their own opinions and feelings more effectively.
Their Business ESL course is very hands-on. One student told us he liked how the teachers set up real work scenarios, from writing emails and negotiating with partners to giving conference speeches.
Students can pick up the vocabulary they actually need for their job. Their Multimedia Library is also a nice bonus for extra practice between classes.
For travelers, the Traveler ESL course covers tips on must-see places, travel stories, and the kind of vocabulary they’ll actually use in everyday conversations.
The only thing we aren’t too crazy about is that classes sometimes run a bit past the 60-minute mark.
