The 10 Best Thrift Stores in Edmonton That Locals Love for Bargains

best-thrift-stores-edmonton

We once thought we could thrift “just for fun” in Edmonton. Cut to us, two hours later, dragging a wobbling side table down Jasper Avenue like a scene from a sitcom. Lesson learned: You will find something you can’t live without.

That trip showed us how easy it is to get hooked. Edmonton’s thrift scene is massive, but not every store is a gem. Some are packed with treasures, and others… Well, let’s just say, they’ve got more dust than diamonds.

To help you avoid the duds and head straight for the good stuff, we’ve rounded up the best thrift stores in Edmonton. These are the spots where locals actually score pieces that make people ask, “Where did you get that?”

I actually picked up this totally adorable retro leather jacket there one time, and it’s been a favorite of mine ever since. They have something for everybody—everything from athletic wear and jumpsuits to statement items to mix into your wardrobe.

What I love about Mod Uncorked is that they are all about sustainability. They donate unsold items to local nonprofits, so nothing is wasted.

Plato’s Closet is my go-to when I’m hunting for cute clothes on a budget. They’re all about gently used, name-brand stuff—think Nike hoodies, American Eagle jeans, and tons of trendy basics.

I stopped by last month and found a pair of barely-worn Converse for half the price I’d seen online. I also got a cozy sweater that I’ve already gotten tons of wear out of.

What’s great is that you can also sell your clothes and receive cash immediately. I’ve sold a few items there in the past, and it’s really fast—no appointments or hassle.

The store has a great relaxed atmosphere, and there’s always fresh merchandise coming onto the racks. If you’re into freshening up your wardrobe without breaking the bank, Plato’s Closet is definitely worth a visit.

Swish Vintage is one of those spots in Edmonton where you can spend hours just exploring. It’s packed with all kinds of treasures—designer shoes, funky handbags, and even antique hair combs.

I went in looking for something simple once and ended up leaving with a gorgeous 1960s handbag that I still get compliments on.

What’s really cool is that a lot of the pieces come with little stories. The staff filled me in on the backstory of my bag, which made it feel way more personal than your usual thrift store grab.

They’ve got a well-curated selection too—you can tell they’re selective about what they put out. If you’re into one-of-a-kind pieces, Swish Vintage is totally worth checking out.

Goodwill is one of those places where you can find some really interesting stuff—clothes, furniture, books, you name it.

The best part? Every time you buy something, you’re actually helping out local programs that support job training and other community services. It feels good knowing your purchase is making a difference.

I’ve had some great finds there, like cozy lounge shorts I scored for under $10 (still one of my favorites).
