When one of our team members started noticing chalky dishes and dry skin after showers, we figured the hard water in their home was the culprit. They ended up going with Culligan, and it actually made a noticeable difference.
After a free water test, the tech recommended a softener that uses ion exchange to remove minerals like calcium and magnesium. Within a week, the water felt noticeably softer, and even the dishwasher worked better.
They also had a reverse osmosis system installed under the sink, with multiple filters —including ones for chlorine and lead. We tried the water ourselves, and it tasted clean with no weird aftertaste.
Beyond these solutions, Culligan also offers whole-house filtration systems for broader water concerns like sediment and acidity. These systems are customizable, depending on what your household needs.
One drawback, though, is the complexity of their systems—most maintenance needs a professional, so even small issues can lead to extra service costs.
Reliable service and attentive follow-ups
“I’ve been with Culligan for over 5 years now. So far very good service quality and support. My sales rep – Robin Chan always keep in touch with me and follow up nicely with all my service requests. Highly recommended.”
- Yolanda Cheung, Google Review
Consistently great service
“4 years I believe in getting water delivered, and not once was I ever dissatisfied with their water or the timely pick up of empties and the delivery technicians put the water exactly where you want it.
In these days with fly by day or night companies and as a small business owner myself, it refreshing to sell with like minded ideas – service, quality product and customer come first rule!! Rock on Culligan Man!!”

If your tap water still has a weird taste after trying a few filters, Rob’s Albertan Service Experts is definitely worth considering.
One of our team members booked a consultation with them to tackle mineral buildup on their faucet. It’s amazing how the tech quickly pinpointed the issue and recommended a magnetic filter to prevent further scale buildup, which could save a lot of hassle later on.
We liked that they didn’t just stop there—they also suggested adding a UV filter for extra protection to help eliminate any bacteria in the water. This made us feel confident that they’re thinking about all aspects of water safety, not just tackling the obvious issues.
The Filtermax Superior Chemical Removal Filter they talked about also caught our attention. It deals with all types of contaminants and has a 20-year guarantee, so it’s perfect for homes with a number of different water quality issues.
Since it’s long-term dependable, we believe it’s a good investment in both your health and home.
Just know that their services can be a bit more expensive than other water treatment services in Edmonton. It would be best to ask for a quote upfront if you’re working on a budget.
Professional installation and excellent customer service
“Tayvin and his colleague came to install water softener and water filter for us and they were attentive, professional, detailed, and knowledgeable. Hayley, our sales rep was kind, personable, and equipped to answer all of our questions. It was a great experience! I highly recommend them.”

Helpful and punctual service
“Brandon was helpful, informative for the information we needed, timely in return visits: informing us of when he would return and punctual.
Brandon also had information about a water softening installation (both rental as well as purchased), we had inquired about.
He is a good representative for Bob’s Albertan service and business. Thank you Brandon.”

Atek Water Systems stood out for its diverse water treatment solutions. One client appreciated their in-depth water analysis, which helped them understand their water quality and choose the most suitable treatment options.
We were most impressed by their Portable Exchange Deionization (PEDI) program. One customer we spoke to shared their experience of dealing with consistently poor water quality at a remote site and decided to try PEDI.
After the consultation, Atek set up the system, and the customer noticed an immediate improvement in water quality. They praised the team for making the process hassle-free by handling everything—from exchange deliveries to setup.
Atek also provides medical-grade water solutions, which are perfect for healthcare facilities and other uses where water purity is important. This emphasis on quality indicates that they have the highest standards in mind.
We also appreciate how they go the extra mile to service clients, driving up to 20 hours for a service call, even in rural areas.
We just wish they’ll improve communications for a more well-rounded customer service. Some customers complained about slow responses, especially with follow-ups.
Professional, non-pushy service
“Alan at Atek worked with me very professionally. I got quotes from multiple different water companies and Alan quoted me under $2,000 for superior equipment compared to the competitors and they wanted $5-$10k.
They came to my house and did an extensive on site test and then compared those to the Alberta lab results in order to guarantee they are providing me with the right equipment. Alan wasn’t pushy to sell and was the most knowledgable out of all the companies. He not only made recommendations but educated me about my water and what to look for. He also gave me useful websites for research that are not associated with a company and are strictly research based and facts.
I plumbed the filter in myself and Alan gave me some pointers when they work with the equipment. Just installed it all today and am excited to see the results.
Overall they went above and beyond what other companies did and also in a friendly non pressured way. I would absolutely recommend Atek for any water needs, they have earned a lifetime customer.”

“From phone call to installation Atek was quick to come out and assess our water system within days, back with a quote within 48 hours and installation the next week. Very impressed with customer service and management of time.”

With over four decades of experience solving water-related issues for commercial, institutional, and residential clients, Pace Solutions Corp. is another solid choice for water treatment.
When one of our team members noticed issues with their HVAC system at home—cloudy water in the cooling tower and signs of scaling and corrosion—they reached out to Pace and the team did wonders.
After assessing the system, Pace applied a corrosion inhibitor and recommended scale control. These are core water treatment services that help prevent damage, reduce buildup, and keep systems running efficiently over time.
We were impressed by how quickly they pinpointed the issue and acted on a targeted solution—it saved a lot of guesswork and potential repair costs.
We also appreciate how hands-on they are. One client had mentioned getting water testing done on-site, which matched our experience too. This makes the process much faster, allowing clients to get access to clean water as soon as possible.
One drawback is that Pace Solutions Corp. isn’t BBB accredited, which might matter to clients who prefer companies with that added layer of vetting.
Excellent customer service
“The skinny kid in the back is phenomenal. polite and quick .
Best costumer service ever. ECSD”

When thinking about clean drinking water, the E.L Smith Water Treatment Plant truly stands out. This plant, operated by EPCOR, has been supplying the city with water since 1976, treating as much as 400 million liters of water every day.
What sets them apart is the use of high-tech techniques such as UV light and chloramine to provide safe, clean water. They do not use old-fashioned methods.
During our visit, we learned about the fish return system. When heavy rainfall causes runoff, it safely guides fish back into the river downstream. We were really impressed with how they balance water treatment with environmental responsibility.
Another aspect we appreciated is their Home Sniffing Program, wherein more than 300 residents assist in evaluating the taste and odor of the water. It’s good to hear that 95% of participants had little to no problems during the spring runoff.
However, one drawback is that the plant’s infrastructure is getting old. Established in 1976, the plant has some components that have not been updated, which results in risks and inefficiencies.
Exceptional water treatment
“E.L. Smith has always treated water better than anyone. Some people treat clear water better than brown water, or even grey water. Not E.L. Smith – he treats all water equally. I wish I knew you Mr Smith.”
- Patrick Frey, Google Review
