Residents have access to a variety of spaces, including the dining room, social lounge, and activity rooms. There’s also a chapel, gardens, and walking paths for recreation and relaxation.
Plus, there are regular outings that help keep routines varied and social.
I was particularly impressed by the enhanced supportive floor for residents with early dementia or needing extra observation. It’s quieter, with smaller groups activities, which works well for those who benefit from a calmer environment.
It’s worth noting that the building shows its age in certain sections. Some suites and common areas feel dated, and while everything functions well, it doesn’t have the modern look of newer facilities.

I was particularly impressed by the Neurobics challenges and brain games, which look like a thoughtful way to keep residents’ minds active. Meanwhile, the games room with pool and shuffleboard provides a casual spot to relax.
Transportation is available for outings, day trips, and medical appointments, which makes it easy for residents to get out and stay connected.
It’s worth noting that Rutherford Heights is in high demand. Because of this, there could be a wait before a unit becomes available, which is something to keep in mind if you’re considering a move.

Common areas, lounges, and activity rooms offer places to socialize or join organized programs. On-site dining keeps daily routines steady, and recreational activities or group outings help residents stay mentally and physically engaged.
Its location near Misericordia Hospital also makes accessing additional medical services convenient.
A point of caution is that there have been reports of short staffing. This could impact how consistently care and services are delivered, particularly during busier periods.
