Sharpen your striking at the best Muay Thai gyms in Edmonton!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Trainer Quality: We landed on Muay Thai gyms with quality coaches by reviewing personal bios, fighter records, certifications, student feedback, and corner experience.

Level of Instruction: FAQs pages, skill syllabi, and program outlines were examined to determine whether a Muay Thai gym has lessons, class types, or courses for students of all levels and goals, be it for competition or fitness.

Equipment and Facilities: Our team used physical visits, interviews, feedback, and test queries to score a gym’s cleanliness, condition, gear quality, amenities, safety, and weather practicality.

Location: Commute time, especially during peak hours, Google Maps estimates, and actual test drives were all referenced to select Muay Thai gyms within 30 minutes of the Edmonton CBD.

Pricing: Drop-in rates and package or membership fees were compared against overall experience to gauge cost-efficiency while also factoring in Edmonton’s standard pricing range, free trials, discounts, and transparency.

Muay Thai is respected (and even feared) for good reason. Often considered the world’s best striking martial art, the discipline is built around efficient attacks using fists, elbows, kicks, and knees, hence the name “The Art of Eight Limbs.”

It’s a great workout, too. A 1-hour session can torch close to 1,000 calories, and unlike some combat sports that feel like solving math problems mid-fight, this one keeps moves practical and the learning curve progressive.

Of course, throwing YouTube combos and shadowboxing in your room isn’t exactly first-class training, champ.

That’s why most Edmontonians, our team included, hit the Muay Thai gyms below for their elite programs and trainers.

Oh, and save some of these soothing massage places or mobile massage therapists for later. You “might” need them.

How much does a Muay Thai gym membership cost in Edmonton?

In Edmonton, a Muay Thai gym membership typically costs $130–$260 per month. Location, trainer reputation, facility standards, membership type, and class frequency directly impact pricing.

Those unable to fully commit to monthly plans may opt for $30 day passes or $90 1-class-per-week programs, which usually cover 4 classes monthly. Members ages 5–12 generally pay less, around $158 per month or $1575 a year.

To save cash, go for memberships that focus on a single discipline rather than 2 or more.

Kingdom MMA and Fitness is among the most well-kept Muay Thai gyms I’ve trained at in Edmonton. Disinfected twice each day, it remains clean even at 5,500 sq ft, and any equipment showing the slightest damage is replaced quickly.

Coach Aaron Kapiczowski leads the striking sessions. He’s a University of Alberta graduate in Physical Education and has been a Muay Thai fighter and trainer for more than 20 years.

Backing him is a fully-equipped facility with a boxing ring, MMA cage, striking pad equipment, and fully matted training zones. Members also get access to 4 different change stalls and 3 washrooms, one of which has a shower.

The gym’s culture is highly inclusive, as you can spar with all levels of fighters who respectfully adapt to their opponent’s skill and experience.

Unfortunately, session hours are fixed, and it’s only Coach Aaron who specialises in Muay Thai.

Pros

  • Well-maintained and spacious
  • Inclusive environment
  • Fully equipped with the right gear and amenities
  • Experienced Muay Thai coach

Cons

  • Class schedule is fixed
  • Only has one Muay Thai specialist

Very welcoming

I have been training at Kingdom MMA since they opened 9 years ago. The facility is always clean and organized. The coaches are a top notch group of professionals with an extensive knowledge base, always patient, and willing to help. The coaches and other members are all very welcoming and willing to help you grow in the sport whether you are doing it for competition or just trying to stay in shape. They offer a wide range of class times for all skill levels. I highly recommend Kingdom MMA as your go to gym for grappling or kickboxing training.

Facility is kept clean

I have Been training here for a year and a half in the afternoon classes. Highly recommend for any beginners, coaches are great. Everyone I’ve trained/sparred with are respectful of people with any level of experience. Facility is kept clean and equipment that gets torn or damaged is replaced quickly from what I’ve seen.

World-class trainers run Brave MMA and Fitness. Head striking coach KB Bhullar, for instance, has fought internationally and is presently a top-ranked middleweight in Canada.

The gym offers programs for everyone, regardless of their level, background, age, or identity. A typical day brings in kids, adults, and advanced fighters.

Most pay between $216 and $270 for monthly access or $35 for drop-in sessions. Committing to a 3-month program means securing a 10–20% discount.

That’s reasonable for Edmonton, especially since Brave’s holistic training system also develops your strength and mobility.

Some classes have been abruptly cancelled, though, so their reliability record isn’t entirely perfect. Entry to the kickboxing program also requires completion of the Boxing Basics class.

On a positive note, their class timetable and large number of coaches make it easy to work training into your routine, with evening, afternoon, and weekend sessions available.

Pros

  • Coaches are experienced fighters
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Inclusive programs
  • Flexible scheduling

Cons

  • A few instances of abrupt cancellations
  • Kickboxing program requires completion of another program

Very clean space

Huge respect to Prince top tier coach. He teaches in a way that’s simple and easy to follow, really locks in the basics, and creates a welcoming vibe. He’s encouraging, attentive, and an all around solid dude. Definitely recommend getting some reps in with Prince. Very clean space as well

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 9 am to 9 pm
  • Sat – 9 am to 3 pm

Website

The Muay Thai coaches of Wolfhouse MMA are elite. Most have decades of training and fighting experience, like Coach Jeet Bilkhu, who comes with 7 MMA bouts and a bronze medal in 2004’s Taekwondo World Championships.

His teaching style is no different from coaches such as Mahalia Coniah and Sean Seitz: highly flexible, passionate, and encouraging. That’s one reason pros and newbies enrol here.

Another boon is the supportive culture shaped by the staff and patrons. From experience, you’re greeted with smiles the moment you walk in, and total rookies don’t get judgmental stares.

A handful of classes can get way too crowded, though, and morning Muay Thai for adults is rarely offered in the earlier hours. Most sessions take place in the late afternoon or evening.

For me, that con is offset by Wolfhouse MMA’s Edmonton-friendly pricing and package variety, including drop-in, age-based, monthly, discipline-centred, and trial plans.

Pros

  • Coaches are pro-fighters
  • Encouraging coaching style
  • Welcoming and inclusive environment
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • Some classes are too packed
  • Morning Muay Thai sessions are rare

Very clean and professional facility

I go there for my 1 on 1 training. Very clean and professional facility, that follows all guidelines. Friendly to people who have less experience in the field and want to learn.

4. Frank Lee’s Muay Thai Kickboxing

Address: 9311 111 Ave NW

Contact Details: +1 780-916-6338

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 8 am to 9 pm
  • Sat – 11 am to 4:30 pm

Website

Real combat effectiveness is what you’ll develop in Frank Lee’s decades-old gym. While not a bad choice for casual workouts, this place is best suited for learning proper techniques and “mastering killer moves,” as one teammate claims.

Unsurprisingly, the coaches are seasoned and technical, and so are most of the actual fighters you’ll train with, some of whom have fought in promotions like the UFC.

To be clear, it’s not a hardcore-only gym where the vibe feels overly aggressive and punishing. Beginner classes are offered, and the community is friendly despite the “intensity” of the place.

Know what else is friendly? The prices. Monthly plans start at $150, which is the lowest package on this list.

The catch, however, is the gym’s shortage of space and the class size being too large, limiting 1-on-1 attention. There’s no trial either, so you have to commit without a first-hand test.

Pros

  • Operating for decades
  • Technical coaching
  • Majority of members are real fighters
  • Affordable pricing

Cons

  • Packed classes despite the limited space
  • No trial sessions

A very energetic teacher

Frank Lee’s Gym has an amazing learning environment. Very friendly trainers, Frank himself is a very energetic teacher. Your mates and teachers feel like family. Classes are packed with knowledge and are so much fun. Beginner classes are 3 days a week for 1 1/2 hr. The gym itself has been around for 41 years and is well maintained. If you want to learn Muay Thai I highly recommend this establishment.

  • Mon – 5 pm to 8:30 pm
  • Tue – 11 am to 12 pm, 5 pm to 8:30 pm
  • Wed – 5 pm to 8:30 pm
  • Thu – 11 am to 12 pm, 5 pm to 8:30 pm

Website

You know Arashi-Do isn’t a mediocre gym when it’s still kicking despite starting way back in 1985.

Much of the credit goes to the accomplished coaches. The Western Canadian Modified title and the Canadian Golden Gloves Kickboxing title are just some of the accolades they’ve earned over the years.

What’s cool is that every program combines fundamentals with fitness training, and classes are designed for multiple age brackets and levels.

Arashi Do’s sense of community is a strong point as well. Apart from the gym’s non-intimidating vibe, instructors like Coach Mike often build personal relationships with students and parents, resulting in a family-like atmosphere.

Just make sure to contact the gym in advance. Slots can get taken up fast due to the gym’s popularity among adults and kids alike, and they commonly don’t have drop-in classes, only 30-day trials offered through direct contact.

Pros

  • Operating since 1985
  • Family-like atmosphere
  • Decorated coaches
  • Offers 30-day trials

Cons

  • Limited slots
  • No drop-ins

You can really tell everyone here cares about the students

My kids have been training at Arashi Do for over two years now, and they absolutely love it! Renshi Mike is an amazing teacher — he’s patient, encouraging, and knows how to motivate the kids to do their best. The assistant instructors are fantastic too and bring so much positive energy to every class. Annie at the front desk always goes above and beyond to help with scheduling and questions; she keeps everything running smoothly. You can really tell everyone here cares about the students and their progress. Highly recommend Arashi Do to any parent looking for a supportive and fun martial arts community!
