We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Authenticity of Cuisine: I focused on restaurants that serve traditional Filipino dishes prepared with authentic recipes and ingredients.

Menu Variety and Specialties: I prioritized places offering a wide range of popular Filipino dishes like adobo, sinigang, and halo-halo.

Customer Reviews and Reputation: I looked at feedback from locals and foodies to find restaurants consistently praised for flavor, service, and atmosphere.

Dining Experience: I considered restaurants with welcoming environments, comfortable seating, and friendly staff that enhance the overall meal experience.

Value for Money: I focused on restaurants that offer generous portions and reasonable prices, ensuring diners get a satisfying experience without overspending.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being around Filipinos, it’s that food is never just for them—it’s always for everyone. I’ve lost count of how many they’ve shown up with homemade lumpia and pancit to share.

It’s those simple gestures that introduced me to a whole cuisine built around sharing and community. And over time, the flavors that first came from a friend’s kitchen started to feel like comfort food for me too.

But of course, I can’t always call on a friend when the cravings hit. So I decided to go on a search around the city for places that deliver that same warmth and flavor.

That’s how this list of the best Filipino restaurants in Edmonton came about—part personal craving, part appreciation for the culture. These are the spots that stay true to Filipino flavors, and they’re worth checking out if you’re hungry for the real thing!

How much do meals at Filipino restaurants in Edmonton cost?

Meals at Filipino restaurants in Edmonton cost between $10 and $25 on average, depending on the dish and restaurant. Combo meals or specialties like lechon or kare-kare can range from $20 to $40.

Lechon is a beloved roasted pork dish in the Philippines, and Cebu has long been considered its home. Curious to taste how it compared, I headed to Cebuchon & BBQ.

I started with their lechon belly (slow-roasted pork belly). The skin had that satisfying crunch you’d expect, and the meat was tender with a good balance of seasoning.

The lechon sisig (chopped pork dish served on a sizzling plate) was another highlight. It was rich and savory. In fact, my Filipino friend who came with me praised it for staying very true to traditional Filipino cooking.

If you’re coming with a group, I recommend the BBQ Platter. It’s packed with a generous variety of meats and sides, making it perfect for sharing.

The staff were attentive and friendly, taking time to explain some of the dishes and offer recommendations. This made the experience even more enjoyable.

I also appreciated their delivery options. They make it easy to enjoy the dishes at home when a dine-in visit isn’t possible.

That said, I did notice some inconsistencies in the food after coming back a few more times. While most dishes were flavorful and satisfying, the occasional variations made parts of the meal a little hit-or-miss.

Pros

  • Known for its traditional Filipino dishes
  • Offers large family-style platters
  • Convenient delivery options
  • Attentive and friendly staff

Cons

  • Inconsistent quality

Excellent food and service

“We have heard about Cebuchon a while ago but we have not been able to visit this place until now, when we visited Edmonton lately.

The hype about the place did not disappoint. Although we had to wait for at least 20 minutes just to have an available table, the service and food were excellent.

We did not order the individual platter but instead ordered ala carte so we were able to avail of their signature dish, the Cebuchon, by the pound.

And at the same time we were able to buy Sinigang na Baboy, Chopsuey as well as their unique drinks, Tamarind Juice.

The Tamarind Juice blew our taste buds right away – not only did we taste the real tamarind taste, its mix was also unique in a way that sweet and sour excellently suited my taste buds.”

Warm Filipino ambiance, friendly service

“I recently visited Cebuchon & BBQ in Edmonton and was blown away by what I can confidently call the best lechon in Alberta. The slow-roasted pork belly was perfectly seasoned with authentic Filipino spices, delivering crispy skin and tender, juicy meat that truly captures the essence of Cebu’s famous lechon. The Filipino ambiance adds a warm, authentic touch, and the staff, especially Rose, were attentive and friendly, making the experience even better.

The only downside is how popular and busy the place is—demand often exceeds the seating capacity, so it can feel a bit cramped and hectic at times. Despite this, the quality of food and service makes it worth the wait. If you’re a fan of Filipino cuisine or just love great lechon, Cebuchon & BBQ is a must-try in Edmonton. Just be prepared for a bustling atmosphere due to its well-deserved popularity”

A friend of mine hired Kusina Filipino Takeout & Catering for her mom’s birthday party, and I got to try some of their dishes firsthand.

The food immediately stood out for its authentic Filipino flavors, with the bopis (spicy sautéed pork lungs and heart) and dinuguan (savory pork blood stew) being my favorites on the menu.

To complete the experience, I tried their turon (crispy fried banana roll) and the empanada (fried pastry filled with meat and vegetables). Both added a satisfying sweet and savory touch to the meal. I recommend trying them after your meal!

I also found the team at Kusina friendly and welcoming, reflecting the family-owned nature of the business.

Moreover, I appreciate how easy it is to enjoy their food. From what my friend told me, ordering was very simple and straightforward. Plus, their takeout and curbside pickup options are actually efficient.

That said, Kusina doesn’t offer dine-in service, so all meals have to be enjoyed at home or at events. While the dishes themselves were excellent, not having the option to sit down and eat on-site means you miss out on the full restaurant atmosphere.

Pros

  • Authentic Filipino home cuisine
  • Family-owned and operated
  • Generous portions
  • Features classic Filipino desserts
  • Offers easy pickup options

Cons

  • No dine-in service

Delicious and fresh

“We checked out several Filipino restaurants to cater my sons birthday party and I have to say Kusina Filipino Take Out & Catering is one of the best!!  Service was friendly and accommodating.   The food absolutely delicious!

We ordered Fried Chicken, Pork Adobo, Beef Kaldareta, Chicken Curry, Pancit Bihon/Canton with Shrimp, Casava Cake and Turon.

The food was delicious and fresh!  Everyone couldn’t stop talking about it.

My favorite was the Turon and they definitely have this dessert mastered! The sweetness and crunch TO DIE FOR!!!  If you are looking to buy food to go check them out or order your Filipino dishes here!  You can’t go wrong.”

Authentic, high-quality ingredients

“Hands down the best Filipino restaurant in Edmonton.  Other places have a very “factory” type taste to their dishes as they’re mass produced from chains. Kusina Filipino brings you food that is not only delicious, but generations old recipes founded in love, passed down by the owner’s mother.  This take-out only venue is the friendliest family owned spot that places quality ingredients as a priority and you can *taste* how fresh and “clean” the dishes are.  For example, at other local Filipino shops/restaurants the Dinuguan (pork blood stew) has almost a “muddy” taste, whereas Kusina Filipino’s Dinuguan tastes smooth without the “earthy” taste – which speaks volumes on how good this restaurant is.  Honestly, stop wasting your time reading this review and get your behind over to Kusina Filipino!”

3. Manila Grill Express

Manila Grill Express is my favorite of all the restaurants I’ve tried in Edmonton. The modern, aesthetically pleasing interior makes the dining experience comfortable while keeping the focus on the food.

Their menu features traditional Filipino dishes, including kare-kare (peanut-based oxtail stew) and caldereta (tomato-based beef stew)all prepared with care and consistency.

If you’re planning to go during the rainy season, I’d recommend trying the Batangas lomi (thick, yellow noodles served in a gooey soup) or goto (soup dish with beef and cow innards). They’re warm and comforting, perfect for that kind of weather.

Over multiple visits, I’ve found the taste of their food consistent. The portions are also generous, providing great value for money.

Plus, the staff were always very friendly and welcoming. There were some dishes I wasn’t familiar with, so I really liked that they were always ready to explain dishes and offer recommendations.

That being said, the dessert options are a bit limited, which is a little disappointing after such a filling meal.

Pros

  • Aesthetically modern interiors
  • Offers traditional dishes
  • Large serving sizes
  • Affordable pricing
  • Very friendly staff
  • Big menu

Cons

  • Limited dessert options

Flavourful, authentic cuisine with excellent service

“If you’re craving authentic Filipino cuisine in Edmonton, Manila Grill Express – South is a must-visit! Located on 28 Avenue NW, this gem offers a delightful dining experience that combines excellent service, high-quality food, and a wide variety of dishes.

The service was top-notch – the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure our dining experience was as smooth as possible. The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual and special occasions.

As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! The quality and flavors were outstanding. There’s a great selection to choose from, with something to satisfy every palate. Notable dishes include the Crispy Pata, which was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside. The Pansit (noodles) was packed with flavor, and the grilled meals were cooked to perfection, offering that smoky, savory goodness we all love.

Overall, Manila Grill Express – South is a fantastic spot to enjoy flavorful, authentic Filipino food. Highly recommend it!”

Welcoming service, cozy, and clean ambiance

“Servers are very welcoming. Store is clean and the ambiance is cozy. We came in at a great time— no one else aside from us and another table— so service was really fast! I ordered quite a lot for two people (sisig not in the photo) because I’m so used to the same prices but smaller portions— surprise, surprise, their portions are so big I just knew I’ll be taking something to go 🤣 I’ve been to many Filipino restaurants but this is the only one who serves legit loaded Batangas lomi! Other dishes really capture the authenticity of Filipino cuisine. Will definitely be back! 😋”

4. Bernardo Diner

Address: 2331 66 St NW

Phone: +1 587-591-4582

Business hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Sunday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Bernardo Diner is a simple Filipino restaurant in Edmonton where the dishes taste just like home, at least according to Filipinos I’ve talked to.

I’ve visited several times, and there’s always something new on the menu since they offer different options every day.

On my visits, I’ve tried favorites like inihaw na baboy (grilled pork), adobong pusit (squid cooked in soy sauce and vinegar), and pork humba (pork belly in a sweet, savory sauce). Each dish feels thoughtfully prepared, and the flavors are authentic.

I also tried their pancit (stir-fried noodles mixed with vegetables and meat) during one of my break times, and it was exactly what I hoped for. It was flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and with just the right balance of tender noodles and vegetables.

Besides the food, the diner’s locations in Mill Woods Town Centre and Northgate Centre make it easy to stop by while shopping.

The staff are friendly and approachable, which adds a welcoming touch to the experience. Combined with reasonable pricing, it’s easy to enjoy Filipino comfort food here without breaking the bank.

My only complaint is they’re quite inconsistent when it comes to portion sizes. While most dishes are filling and generous, there are times when certain plates feel smaller than expected.

Pros

  • Different options in the menu every day
  • Dishes taste like home
  • Grilled specialties and other Filipino comfort foods
  • Convenient mall locations
  • Community-focused
  • Affordable pricing

Cons

  • Inconsistent portion sizes

Impressive taste

“Wow ,first time trying this place but definitely womt be the last ,I really didn’t have very high expectations being as the restaurant is in a food court ,but wow did it ever deliver. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu”

Good value combos, friendly staff

“I always get the dinuguan! It tastes great and the combo A portion is good value. The staff are very friendly and nice. Highly recommend !”

If you’re curious about Filipino’s simple go-to meals, you can find them at RJ Tasty Bites.

The diner serves a variety of silogs, which are breakfast dishes that come with sinangag (garlic fried rice) and itlog (fried egg). They offer tapsilog (cured beef), longsilog (sweet Filipino sausage), and tocilog (sweet cured pork).

Beyond silogs, the menu also features popular Filipino street food like lumpiang togue (Filipino spring rolls filled with bean sprouts and meat), pork siomai (steamed pork dumplings), and grilled skewers.

One of the highlights for me is their dessert selection. I tried the puto (steamed Filipino rice cakes) and leche flan (creamy caramel custard dessert), and both were delightful. They were soft, sweet, and perfectly balanced.

They also offer kutchinta (steamed sticky rice cakes) and yema (sweet custard candy), making it easy to satisfy any Filipino dessert craving.

I also appreciated the free taho. It’s a unique snack made of silken tofu, arnibal syrup, and sago pearls. I’ve never tried anything similar before, but this tasted incredibly warm and comforting.

The owners are humble and hospitable, always making sure customers feel comfortable.

I just wish the dine-in space were a bit larger. Finding a seat during busy times, especially at lunch, can be a challenge.

Pros

  • Various dessert options
  • Serves Filipino’s go-to meals
  • Humble and hospitable owners
  • Free taho
  • Budget-friendly catering services

Cons

  • Limited dine-in space

Home-made tasting dishes, affordable prices

“RJ Tasty Bites is a small restaurant that has a great menu. We ordered sisilog, beef pares silog, and chicken inasal silog. We also had bubble teas. The price was reasonable and affordable. The taste was just right and tastes like homemade Filipino food with lots of love. The meats were well seasoned and tender when needed. The service was fast. We also had complimentary sample desserts such as leche flan.

Although the restaurant is in a part of Edmonton that is not the cleanest, safest or most sightly, it is worth the effort to go here and eat. I would come back here again with more friends and family.”

Excellent service

“It was nice to have a new Fiipino restaurant in downtown. I tried their beef pares, kare kare and halo halo. It was delicious and we were offered a free dessert too! The owner gave us a plate of kutsinta, puto leche flan, and pichi pichi. Our overall experience was excellent!”
