13 Best Yoga Studios in Edmonton

If you love yoga or want to try it out for the first time, look no further. In this article, we listed the top yoga studios in Edmonton that you can try.

We did comprehensive reviews for each studio, ensuring we only included the best of the best. We hope you find the best one for your needs and preferences.

How We Picked The Best Yoga Studios in Edmonton

We evaluated the studios based on the following criteria:

How much does a yoga class cost?

The price of a yoga class will depend on different factors such as the studio, the level of experience of the instructor, and whether or not it’s a group or private session.

On average, you might spend around $15 – $25 for an hour’s class. If it’s a private session, you might need to shell out around $30- $70 per session.

There might be packages and promos if you buy sessions in bulk, however. So that’s something to consider.

Accessibility: We made sure that it’s easy to set an appointment by choosing studios that are reliable and highly accessible. We also checked their operating hours and responsiveness.
Expertise: Of course, we included studios with experienced and qualified instructors. We made sure that the classes are top-notch and that the teaching style is easy to follow.
Professionalism: Aside from their talent and skill in teaching, we also looked into if they provide a safe space for yoga enthusiasts to thrive and grow. We looked into their attitude and how they deal with students.
Customer Satisfaction: Lastly, we checked the overall feedback from previous students to see the satisfaction level with the classes. This gives us insight into how the classes are normally held and the

Yogalife Studios has been around for over 10 years. In their own words, their goal is to “make it easy for anyone to experience the benefits that yoga has to offer”.

We can personally attest that they embody this goal through their classes. They offer a variety of yoga class styles fit for different levels.

Last time we counted, they were offering 15 different classes, including pre and post-natal yoga. Some are even heated yoga sessions.

So if you’re in the mood to try something new, this studio is for you. You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to classes so you’ll never be bored.

We also love how each instructor there offers a unique perspective, background, and experience. They provide a safe space for you to explore yoga and see what works best for you.

Plus, they don’t just offer in-studio sessions. They also have virtual classes available if you don’t have the time to attend a class in person.

Their pricing structure is great because they offer a lot of promos and packages that aren’t heavy on the pockets. If you don’t want to commit yet, however, a single class is around $20 – a bit pricey compared to other places.

Booking a class is an easy process because of their application that you can download from the App Store or Google Play. You can check out the schedule, buy passes, and even sign up for a membership there.

Do note that you need to check the class schedule an hour prior to the session because cancellations do happen especially when there’s low attendance.

Pros

  • Wide range of classes available
  • Virtual sessions available aside from in-studio classes
  • Easy booking process through their application
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • Inconsistent hours
  • Possibility of canceled classes
  • Single class price is expensive

Customer Reviews

I always feel comfortable and staff are always willing to help

This is the BEST in Edmonton or Sherwood Park. I make the trip past many other options to go here. The team there has been so kind and understanding, moving past expiry dates to accommodate me & in so many other ways. They communicate via text if required and respond so quickly. have had so many hiccups in my life these past few years and I am grateful for all of their accommodation and understanding. The Studio is welcoming and impeccably clean. Each teacher is unique and offers an amazing experience. I always feel comfortable and the staff is always willing to help. This is honestly the best studio and the friendliest. So perfect for first time hot yoga goers as the team is so kind and patient. THANK YOU FOR BEING SO AMAZING! -Lisa L.

The instructor was easy to follow, with excellent audio cues to guide us through the movements

I had done some yoga videos at home a few times, but YogaLife was my first studio yoga experience. Honestly, I think I had the perception that yoga was just fancy stretching, but I was so wrong! YogaLife is in South Edmonton Common, and the small store front is hiding a large and beautiful studio. The front of the studio has a tea lounge with couches, and there is a gentle smell of some aromatherapy in the air. There are benches and a large area to leave shoes and boots. You can check in for your class on an iPad at the front desk, and there are multiple studio rooms. There are change rooms with hooks for coats, sinks, washrooms and change stalls, and small lockers for valuables (be sure to bring your own lock!). I did my first visit with a friend and we got a short tour and explanation of the studio prior to the class.  The whole studio feels very high end, and very welcoming. We picked a 75 minute Happy Hips class and it kicked my butt (literally)! The instructor was easy to follow, with excellent audio cues to guide us through the movements. I really appreciated this, as I’m not familiar with the names of all the yoga poses.  The class had a perfect balance of stretching and warm up with strength movement, and I was sore for days afterwards (always a good sign). The class was completely full for a Tuesday night, and despite being new to yoga, I was never uncomfortable. It was a great experience and I’m hoping to try more classes soon. -Nicole O.

This locally owned studio has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and has always made inclusivity paramount.

I’ve been going to Om, and the owner’s other studios, for over a decade now and have never had a bad experience. This locally owned studio has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and has always made inclusivity paramount. I’ve tried many studios around town and none of them compare to Om. I personally love the dynamic flow classes. And if you get a chance, check out some of their specialty workshops when they pop up! -Peter G.

Tannis did an absolutely wonderful job leading the class and making sure everyone had a comfortable practice

After a few years of not practicing, I was a little nervous to return to a studio. However, Tannis did an absolutely wonderful job leading the class and making sure everyone had a comfortable practice. Very clean and professional studio. I can’t wait to return. -Haley J.

Metta Yoga has two studios and we love how accessible they are! After trying them out ourselves, we can’t help but be impressed by how efficient and effective they are at what they do.

We love how their studios provide an inclusive space for students to explore yoga. Their classes are easy to follow and their instructors are encouraging, warm, and very qualified.

Plus, they have a wide roster of instructors with different specializations, so you get to choose the best fit. At the same time, it’s probably easier to find a class schedule that works for you.

They have different class types. Check out their list below:

  • Metta
  • Flow
  • Power Flow
  • Yin
  • Yang/Yin

  • Prenatal
  • Yoga for Kids

Note: All classes are hot yoga except pre-natal classes and kids classes.

We also like that they offer online classes aside from in-studio ones for those who are too busy to drop by in person.

One of the things we appreciate about them is the solid sense of community in this studio. They’re very community-driven, which is so apparent in the way they do their classes.

They even offer Karma yoga classes where the proceeds go to their community and support the development of mindful practices in different organizations locally.

Reserving a slot is easily done on their website. Their website is up to date, so it’s easy to look through their services and find which ones suit you best.

Prana Yoga Studio has made its name as a yoga studio in Edmonton for its holistic classes and workshops. They have been serving the area for 16 years.

They offer a wide range of classes for all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or actually want to start teaching yoga yourself, they have programs and classes for you.

They even have a Livestream of their classes that you can check out should you be too busy to go to the studio yourself.  Moreover, they’re the longest running studio in Edmonton (17 years) and we have the most extensive advanced training programs hosted at a studio

They also hold unique yoga events such as Restorative Yoga and Grief Relief, among others. So going here is also great if you want to meet people who also love yoga.

They have 28 highly qualified instructors, so it’s easy to find a class here that suits your schedule and preference. They all have different specializations, so you can find the best instructor for your needs.

We love their facility because they have two very spacious studios with hardwood floors and beautiful decor. It really sets the mood for us and is a conducive space for classes.

They have one studio for hot yoga and one with regular temperature. So you can alternate between the two depending on your preference.

They also have rain head showers, change rooms, lockers, and even a yoga boutique where you can shop. It’s so luxurious here and it makes for a really relaxing experience.

We did find booking a class quite inconvenient because of the unorganized layout of the website. So that’s something to consider.

Individual classes are pretty pricey, amounting to around $22 a class. They do, however, offer packages where you might be able to save more.

Pros

  • Wide roster of instructors
  • Yoga instructor classes available
  • Holds a lot of unique events
  • Great and spacious facility with nice amenities

Cons

  • Busy during peak days

The staff is friendly and the yoga teachers are excellent

Fantastic yoga studio. I have been coming to Prana on and off for many years ever since they opened. The staff is friendly and the yoga teachers are excellent. They have two beautiful studio spaces, one for regular temperature and one for hot/warm yoga classes. Wide range of classes from flow, yin, hip opening focus, etc. Bathrooms/change rooms are always clean, and there are lockers you can use for your valuables if you like. Since COVID they have also introduced online livestream classes as well. Love this place! -Nadia K.

If you’re looking for a traditional take on classes, SUN YOGA is the place for you. Every class they hold is rooted in traditional teachings.

It’s not modified so you’ll really get the opportunity to experience authentic yogic teachings. All of their instructors graduated from a Teachers Training Course (TTC)  from Sivananda Institutions worldwide and have significant experience as a teacher.

One thing we noticed is that they really put a premium on quality, not quantity. So they don’t really offer a lot of classes on their schedule.

They also often teach in very small groups with up to 10 students for beginners and experienced students. We like that they’re very hands-on and really patiently teach you how to do every pose correctly and also safely.

Do know that they don’t offer hot yoga classes. So if that’s something you’re gearing for, it might be best to check out the other studios in this list that specialize in those.

Aside from in-studio classes, they also offer virtual classes. We like that they’re accessible that way.

As for pricing, they offer the lowest price among the 5 studios listed here for a single class at $18. Virtual classes cost $12 per session.

They even have a lot of really great promos where you can save more. So make sure to look into that.

Pros

  • Rooted in traditional yoga teachings
  • Profound learning per session
  • Virtual classes available
  • Sessions are not that expensive

Cons

  • Only offers limited classes
  • No hot yoga classes offered

SHALA Ashtanga Yoga Centre is located in the heart of Downtown Edmonton. They are committed to the continuation and progress of Ashtanga Yoga as it enters a new era.

They aim to not propagate the guru pop culture, but rather stay loyal to the heritage by empowering all of their students and providing them with a setting that they can genuinely call home. They genuinely want to assist you in incorporating this practice into your daily life.

With three different classes you can choose from either the standard 3 weeks immersive registered course where they will provide you the confidence to turn your attention inwards, start to focus on the internal aspects of yoga or you can also get their private one-on-one classes.

If those two options are not ideal for your needs then you can choose their pay-what-you-can classes wherein they provide  various disciplined classes and are very important to SAYC. Customer Reviews

The Shala is small but beautifully and intentionally put together

“Shala Ashtanga Yoga Centre is the first review we’ve ever done of a traditional Ashtanga yoga studio and a Mysore class at that (a self-led yoga class where students practice independently at their own pace). As soon as we found out we were doing that we were like…uhhhhhh. Even though I’ve been practising for over 15 years and we go to a squillion yoga classes, we were still intimidated by having to lead our own practice. BUT – turns out there’s no need to fret. Going to a Mysore class as a beginner to Ashtanga might actually be the greatest thing ever and this hidden sanctuary in the middle of downtown Edmonton is one of the greatest places to learn. The Shala is small but beautifully and intentionally put together and they’re in line with their yoga competitors in Edmonton in terms of price. Absolutely worth a visit.” – Fit-City Guide

Truly a special and magical place

“This studio is staffed with warm, caring and knowledgable staff. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. This is a beautiful and inviting space. Like many people, I was intimidated by the idea of transitioning to an Ashtanga practice, but the care and attention of these supportive instructors has allowed my practice to gently and safely grow. I have been lucky enough to practice in many yoga studios around YEG and this one is truly a special and magical place.”  – Beth Maudsley

Radiant Well-Being Yoga is a simple practice of stretching and strengthening that rehabilitates and promotes joint mobility. It is based on traditional yoga but differs from “normal” yoga in that it mainly focuses on getting joints moving in their entire range of motion.

Class plans are carefully designed to guide students from one stance to the next, with each pose preparing the body for what comes next. Anyone can practice RWB Yoga since postures are only performed as each body is able.

When a learner finds a position challenging, it is adjusted such that the student can benefit from the variety while being safe. Forcing the body and concepts such as “no pain, no gain” have no place in RWB Yoga. An “ideal stance” does not exist either.

The constraints of each student are respected, and the time spent in each posture allows the nervous system to feel comfortable, relax into the pose, release restrictions, and build new patterns.

Pros

  • Experienced yoga instructors
  • Personalized instructions
  • User-friendly

Cons

  • Only open four days a week
