Dr. Brian Fedoretz is one of our go-to dentists for general dentistry and Invisalign® clear braces. He has extensive experience and a proven track record, but what drew us even more to him is his easygoing attitude and patience with his patients.
We like how passionate he is about what he does. He works with extreme precision and skill, based on what we’ve seen.
He’s also very thorough and gives you a detailed explanation of your treatment options, so you’re well-informed. We appreciate him taking the time to clearly show the problem so that we could understand and explain potential fixes.
We also really enjoyed the overall experience at University Dental Choice. They have a lot of dentists and professionals on their team, making things easy if you need referrals.
All their dentists and hygienists on board are professional and have solid credentials and experience backing up their work.
They even offer a wide range of services outside general dentistry, such as children’s dentistry, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and periodontal services. We also like that they have equipment for all kinds of dental exams should you need them.
Requesting an appointment is easy through their website, and they have a fast response time for calls. They can also accommodate emergency services, which is a great bonus.
However, they do have a strict cancellation policy. So, make sure to give a two-business days’ notice because you might have to pay a cancellation fee if you don’t!
As for pricing, they’re pretty standard because they follow the Alberta fee guide. So, we didn’t have any complaints there.

This clinic has a strong reputation for its proven track record and the dentists’ great rapport with their patients, but they also volunteer at schools in the area to promote dental wellness. They’re also known to sponsor and participate in community events.
We can attest that the quality of their services is superb and that they care about the community they serve. We were able to interact with Dr. Kendra Barkman in particular and we loved her patient-centered approach.
She really prioritizes patient comfort and makes sure to check on her patients the whole procedure. A lot of her patients would agree that she’s very gentle and that her extensive experience is apparent in her efficiency and results.
Aside from Dr. Barkman, there are plenty of other dentists on the roster and they have a moderately-sized team with different functions. We found that they work effectively and quickly.
We love that they have a lot of complimentary services such as teeth whitening and x-rays for new patients. They also give free check-ups to children 3 years old and below.
We also found their prices very reasonable. They even offer a lower rate than what’s specified in the Alberta Fee Guide!
They also offer direct billing and even help you file paperwork for your insurance. This is such a huge help, based on our experience.
Overall, with their convenient booking system online, accommodating personnel, and highly competent and amicable dentists, we highly recommend them to clients in the area looking for professional dental care treatments.

Definitely the best dental experience I’ve had since I was a teenager
I switched to this dental clinic partly because it’s close to home, partly because it has great reviews and most importantly because my experience at my old dentist was brutal.
All the staff are very friendly and the building is nice and new. They even have TVs on the ceiling to help keep you distracted while they drill away in your mouth. Getting my teeth worked on was almost painless, however my jaw was sore for days. Definitely the best dental experience I’ve had since I was a teenager and my dentist gave me lots of nitrous lol. -Gunner

Dr. Tan from the Calgary Trail branch is trained here in Edmonton and graduated from the University of Alberta with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Science degrees.
He’s won many academic awards for his excellence in periodontology and clinical dentistry, making him an ideal choice if that’s what you’re looking for. He has extensive experience and is well-known for his skills in oral surgery and root canal therapy.
Plus, we like that aside from English, he’s also fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. We found Dr. Tan professional and warm the whole time we were there.
We’re also fans of how well he explains procedures and because he makes sure that it doesn’t sound too intimidating. He answers all your questions the best he can and he’s so friendly all throughout.
Smiles Dental Group is a huge franchise with numerous branches so transfers and referrals are so easy and convenient, based on our experience. They have a huge team of dentists that you can choose from.
All of their dentists are top-notch with extensive experience and great credentials. They also cover a wide range of services, from simple cleaning procedures to dental bridges – they have you covered.
One thing we also noticed is that their rates are very reasonable and are even slightly below the average rate, so you can check them out if you’re working with a limited budget.
They have established financing options and their receptionists can even assist you with insurance concerns. They’re very friendly and accommodating in that regard.
That being said, since they’re a huge clinic and fairly in-demand, they may not respond to inquiries quickly if you call them. They do have a good online booking system, though.
Their website is also cluttered; making it difficult to look through their services. So that’s something to consider.

The front-desk staff are very courteous and knowledgeable and inform you of any charges well ahead of the appointment. Dr. Harbuksh Sekhon from Gallery Dental is very reliable and easy to work with, based on our experience. He graduated from the University of Manitoba Dental School in 2003 and has since built a strong reputation as a dentist in Edmonton.
He has a background in immunology and studied dental implantology, orthodontics, and periodontics. He also specializes in general dentistry, which he is highly passionate about, and it shows.
Dr. Sekhon also works with the insurance industry to examine oral health conditions related to car accidents and other incidents. So if you need a dentist specializing in that, he’s a great option.
Aside from Dr. Sekhon, we can commend the clinic’s efficiency, responsiveness, and customer care. Their staff is very warm and welcoming, from what we’ve seen.
We like that they offer a wide range of services outside general dentistry. They have updated equipment to address the specific oral health needs efficiently such as laser dentistry, digital radiography, iCat 3D scanners, endodontic microscopes, CEREC same day dentistry, etc.
It’s also reasonably easy to get an appointment here, and walk-ins are even welcome at times. Plus, the amenities are lovely.
They have ceiling-mounted TVs, noise-cancelling headphones upon request, patient chairs with built-in massage functions, and even fresh coffee and bottled water while you wait – so yes, they offer top-notch patient care.
We do wish they had more in-house dentists aside from Dr. Sekhon, though. We noticed that if you need specialized care, you’ll still have to be referred to an outside clinic – so that’s something to consider.
Overall, they’re a great option still. We love going here because we feel well-cared for – it’s not surprising they have a perfect score on Google Reviews.

Affinity Dental Kingsway has three in-house dentists, one of which is Dr. Fawad Ahmed. We highly recommend him because of how great he is with patients, based on our observations.
We all know that anxiety about dentist appointments is common.This is why we love how Dr. Ahmed goes over and beyond to explain procedures and gently care for his patients to ensure minimal pain.
He also has extensive experience and incredible skills, so procedures don’t take long. Aside from Dr. Ahmed, the clinic has other in-house dentists and a large team, so referrals and transfers are very convenient.
Plus they’re one of the best in the game for emergency care. They offer same-day appointments and are very flexible schedule-wise, which is such a bonus for people who are busy during the week.
We also like their financing options because they have a high approval rate and low monthly fees.
We observed some of their work on tooth-colored fillings and teeth whitening, and we were very impressed with the results. They’re also highly recommended for periodontal care, crowns, dentures, and bridgework.

Had the 2nd appt for my crown. Dr. M. Fawad and his dental assistant were absolutely fantastic. Dr. Sylvia Lau is a fellow Edmontonian having attended Vernon Barford Junior High and Harry Ainlay High. She then graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and has been part of Southgate Dental Centre for over 30 years at this point.
Dr. Lau specializes in general dentistry, dental surgery, implants, crowns and bridges, and esthetic dentistry. We love her gentle and careful care as a dentist.
We also like that she makes sure to answer all your questions about procedures and provide great aftercare. We always feel very taken care of when we go here.
We can vouch for her attention to detail and skill. She’s also part of the Canadian Dental Association and the Alberta Dental Association so we know that she’s highly-vetted.
Including Dr. Lau, they have seven dentists on board with each of their own specializations, so you have a lot of choices. Referrals for specialized treatment will be an easy process if ever.
They also have a huge staff that is very warm and welcoming. Their receptionists are friendly and would answer all your questions about booking appointments, insurance, and financing options very patiently.
Aside from their efficiency, we also like the level of patient care here. They have free parking, free WiFi, ceiling-mounted TVs, clean blankets and pillows upon request, and even a children’s playroom.
Overall, they’re one of our favorite clinics. They’re extremely kid-friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
That being said, they do lack some of the specialized services that the other clinics have. So that’s something to keep in mind.

She has extensive experience and great passion for the field. What drew us to her, however, is her patient care and love for what she does.
She’s fun, enthusiastic, and has a great sense of humor. She used to have a phobia of dental work as a child, so she’s very passionate about helping children and adults with anxiety surrounding dental appointments.
She also is a whiz at dental freezing. So if you’re scared that you’re the type who doesn’t respond to freezing well, we highly recommend you check her out.
They also have different approaches to sedation, so you have choices. They’ll also make sure to educate you on them so you make a better-informed decision for your needs.
Aside from Dr. Sandilands, the clinic has another dentist and a huge team of hygienists and assistants to help with a wide range of dental needs. They have an extensive range of services.
One of the strengths of the clinic is their accurate diagnosis, making them a prime clinic if you need help figuring out what’s wrong. They have DIAGNOdent laser cavity screening and VELscope oral cancer screening readily available.
We do think their website and online forms need work. It makes it a bit hard to look through their services especially if you’re a new patient.

If it’s possible to have a great experience at the dentist, this is the closest I’ve ever came! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and I had the pleasure of having my appointment with Dr. Kathy Sandilands. I was repairing a front tooth that had been chipped very badly, was very insecure about it and also not the best with the dentist. Kathy was very patient and understanding, and her assistant was amazing and friendly as well! I was worried there would be an obvious colour difference (especially with it being my front tooth?, and not only was the colouring perfectly matched, the work was all done in under an hour. Dr. Taka Shah is one of the leading dentists here in the city known for his love for his work and great rapport with patients. In fact, he has been on seven international dental trips, working with remote communities in Ecuador and Nepal.
He’s a fellow Edmontonian who graduated from University of Alberta and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2011. He has extensive experience and is known for his meticulous attention to detail.
So if you’re looking for someone capable and efficient with oral surgery and general dentistry, Dr. Shah is a great option. He was mentored by Dr. Emad Morris, the dentist who opened Lumos Dental.
In cases where Dr. Shah is not around, you might see Dr. Morris filling in. Despite not having a lot of dentists on board, they have a supportive team with a hygienist, a dental assistant, a sterilization assistant, and a dental administrator that are responsive and easy to work with.
Booking an appointment is easy enough although we find that they respond faster when you call them compared to when you do it through their online forms.
They have a wide range of services as well – making them a great one-stop shop for all kinds of dental concerns. They also have state-of-the-art technology such as a 3D intraoral scanner, digital x-ray, and panoramic x-ray for faster examinations and detailed diagnosis.
For those anxious around needles, you’d be glad to know that they have Calaject, a computer-assisted virtually pain-free injection. This is a game changer for people with a low pain tolerance.
That being said, we do think they can be more organized because there were some reports of confusion about their processes. We also noticed that they’re not that fast when dealing with the administrative side of things, so that’s something to consider.

Dr. Thinh Le obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and got her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan. She has been practicing for over 10 years at this point, so she’s been in the industry for quite some time.
We found her to be very skilled, accommodating, patient, and professional. Aside from Dr. Thinh Le, there are four other dentists at this clinic, and they’re all very skilled and capable.
They also have a wide roster of dental hygienists, assistants, and staff. So they’re very reliable, responsive, and can accommodate more patients compared to some clinics on this list.
They even have a dentist assigned on Saturdays to accommodate emergencies and walk-ins. So they’re very accessible, from what we’ve seen.
Their office is also beautiful. It’s sleek and neat, which we really like – so plus points for that.
If those reasons aren’t enough, they have just decreased their fees to be lower than the Alberta dental fee guide (up to 15% lower!). They also support a lot of local charities and causes – so yes, they’re a fantastic option for those hoping to get a good deal on their services.

Dr. John VandenBrink is the primary dentist at Glenora Dental Family Dentistry with over 25 years of experience. After meeting him, we saw how passionate he is about his job and how caring he is to his patients.
A lot of his patients would agree that he has a caring demeanor and a warm personality. He’s also very receptive to children – making trips to the dentist less scary for them.
As for his specializations, he’s known for his preventive care, pediatric dentistry, emergency dental care, and cosmetic dentistry. Based on our observation, he’s also very capable when it comes to restorative procedures such as ceramic crowns, bridges, veneers, and teeth whitening.
Aside from Dr. VandenBrink, there’s only one other in-house dentist, but they have a moderately-sized team of dental hygienists and dental assistants. We found them all very easy to work with and capable.
Plus, we like that they have updated technology like digital x-rays and rooms equipped with monitors and TVs so you can see visuals backing up your dentist’s explanations.
That being said, there are a few reports saying that the front desk is not as responsive as you’d like them to be when you call them. So we suggest using their online form for booking or emailing them instead for a faster response.

She’s also very warm and friendly so it’s easy to be at ease around her. Aside from Dr. Zhang, the clinic has three other dentists and a good team of dental hygienists and assistants in-house.

If you’re looking for a dentist in South Edmonton, we highly recommend Dr. Thinh Le from Landmark Dental. He has over two decades of experience and is well-loved by patients from this clinic because of his passion and enthusiasm for his job and warm personality.
He’s really great at pediatric dentistry and oral surgery from what we’ve seen. Plus, we love that he doesn’t rush appointments and ensures that patients know their diagnosis and treatment plan well.
Aside from Dr. Le, there are two other dentists on board that you can choose from in this clinic. They also have a dedicated team that helps make processes seamless and fast.
One of the things that we appreciate about this clinic is their reasonable prices and promos. Currently, new adult patients get free teeth whitening – which is a good deal!
We do wish that they had a better online booking system than what they currently have. We find it better to just contact them directly via call or email to set an appointment.
Their receptionist is usually very responsive so booking an appointment is easy. Their website is also a bit outdated, making it a bit hard to look through their services.
Still despite these, we think they deserve a spot on this list because of their impressive patient care. They’re a great option especially for those who struggle with dentist-related anxiety.

Dr. Rustom Appoo is one of the four general dentists at Belle Rive Dental Clinic. He graduated from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry as a general dentist in 2000 and then proceeded to go to the US for externships.
He’s sought after for his oral surgery and general dentistry work because he is excellent, meticulous, and has a strong reputation for the quality of his work. Not only that, he’s also very patient and easy to talk to, so a lot of patients like him.
We know how intimidating going to a dentist can be at times, so it was great that Dr. Appoo is so accommodating.
We also like that there are three other dentists on board with different specializations you can check out should you need a referral or if you prefer someone else to work with.
This clinic’s range of services is extensive and even have specialized services such as laser treatment and gum disease treatment. We like how gentle they are here and how organized the processes are.
We also find the front desk helpful and easy to talk to. Booking an appointment was also a breeze even for emergency cases.
One thing we did notice, however, is that they lack support for parents with toddlers. There were only chairs in the waiting areas so kids get bored easily there.
Plus they also don’t really teach parents how to calm and help toddlers be more comfortable during procedures. So that’s something to consider, we think.
Still, overall, we find this clinic very efficient and great to work with. So they definitely deserve a spot on our list.

I have been coming to this dental clinic for the past six months and I have to say it has been a very very long time since I have been to a clinic where all aspects are great. Let’s start with Dr.Appoo. Not only does he listen to what you are saying about any problems you have, he thinks outside the box and makes recommendations on what you can do. He also has a great bedside manner and can put even the biggest scardy cats at ease. ( I didn’t even feel the needle) Next his staff are wonderful. The dental assistants seem to really care about what they do and are very compassionate. Lastly, The front staff have always been friendly and very accommodating. This is very important to me as it is the first people you see, and being greeted in a friendly manner goes a long way and makes me want to return. I have not been to the hygienist yet for my cleaning, so I cannot review them…but knowing how the rest of the staff are I’m sure I will have a great experience also. We like Dental Elements as a clinic because of their patient-focused policies and overall quality of care. The moment you step in their clinic, you’ll be welcomed by their attentive staff and be assisted promptly.
Their clinic is clean and sleek and the atmosphere is very inviting. Based on our experience, even kids enjoy going here because the people and the environment help put them at ease.
Their main dentist, Dr. Bryan Layton, earned his Bachelor of Science and DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) from the University of Alberta and worked in a general clinic before opening Dental Elements. He has extensive experience and is very gentle, from what we observed.
We like that he’s the type of dentist who really tries to get to know you and build rapport with you. He helps you understand what your treatment will entail by explaining everything as simply as he can.
It also looks like we’re not the only ones who are fans of Dr. Layton’s work. His clinic has a perfect Google Reviews rating and is well-known in the community.
Despite this being a smaller clinic than most, we found them efficient and reliable. They have a wide range of services and even have some specialized services not a lot of clinics offer – one of which is oral cancer screening.
That established, some of the downsides is they don’t have an established financing plan available. You’ll have to consult with them about payment options.
At the same time, they also close early and aren’t open during weekends unless you have an emergency that needs immediate attention.
Still, we think they are well worth the mention especially if you’re looking for a good neighborhood dentist with amazing patient care.

Dr. Rob Andrew is one of the most well-respected dentists in Edmonton and for a good reason. He has extensive experience and outstanding credentials backing him up, so you know you’re in safe and capable hands.
He finished dentistry at the University of Stellenbosch near Cape Town and completed the Canadian equivalency exam at the University of Alberta.
He then earned a post-graduate diploma in aesthetic dentistry and finished a mini-residency in orthodontics and temporomandibular disorder. So if that’s what you’re looking for, he’s one of the best choices for the job.
Aside from these, we also like how calm and friendly he is – which is a huge help, especially for people with anxiety during dental appointments.
We also like that the clinic has a very organized process. From booking an appointment, safety procedures, and even post-checkup or surgery, they have excellent customer support, making everything convenient.
We also love that they offer a wide range of services, from dental cleaning, and root canals to all kinds of implants – they have you covered.
They are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to help them perform laser cavity detections, computerized anesthetic injections, etc.
We think they’re a great clinic to visit if you’re not sure what the problem is because they’re excellent and very thorough with diagnosis. That said, they have a moderately-sized team and only have one primary dentist, unlike more extensive franchises in this list.
So if you’re looking for more specialized services, it might be best to check out some other clinics on this list. Despite this, we think they’re a great contender and deserve a spot on this list.

Dr. Jacob is a general dentist who opened Signature Smilez Family Dental in Edmonton. She has over 29 years of experience and is well known in the area for her proven results and attention to detail – so we were eager to check her out.
Based on our team’s experience, she really valued patient comfort and made sure that all her patients are well-informed about their procedures and after-care instructions. She’s warm, friendly, and very easy to work with.
Since this is her private practice, she is the only primary dentist here. She does have a complete team of hygienists, assistants, and staff taking care of different functions so everything runs smoothly, however.
We’re impressed by how organized and seamless everything is. Booking an appointment and filling out patient forms are very intuitive and quick.
Do know that they have a strict cancellation policy where you have to pay a fee should you fail to give proper notice two days prior to your appointment.
We like that they have a wide range of services – from usual procedures like cleaning and extractions to more complex surgeries. The clinic even offers specialized services like botox and sleep apnea treatment.

Sana Dental is led by Dr. Alex Pavlenko – one of the most caring dentists we’ve ever had the pleasure to meet! We love his approach toward his patients and how he thoroughly explains procedures to make sure that everything is clear before he proceeds with anything.
He’s known for his impressive work on cosmetic dental treatments, TMJ cases, and sleep apnea treatment. He’s hands on and meticulous, so it’s not hard to see why he’s a common favorite among patients in North Edmonton.
Plus, he’s so good with kids! They even have complimentary check-ups for all children under the age of 3 years old.
Based on experience, he has a warm and friendly staff that will welcome you and ensure you get the best possible care. We like that they’re reliable and easy to work with especially when it comes to insurance and financing.
One thing we like about this clinic is its extensive range of new technology to ensure efficient solutions to dental concerns. They have digital x-rays, intra-oral cameras, dental lasers, BioPak Evaluation System and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation to diagnose TMJ cases.
One thing that sets them apart as well is their alternative way of sedation called Nucalm, which uses microcurrent to stimulate relaxation. It’s worth checking out!

Dr. Pavlenko and his staff made me feel at home. Usually, I would be nervous going to any dentist but not at Sana Dental. I had a release of tongue tie procedure done by Dr. Pavlenko and he did a wonderful job! He was very thorough during the procedure and always asked how I was doing. He sent me home with enough material to care for my frenectomy surgery and when I saw Dr. Pavlenko for a follow up, he said everything is healing nicely. Dr. Pavlenko took his time with me when answering all my questions and he explained them well to my knowledge. Dr. Ghoghari finished his Bachelor of Dental Science from India and got certified and licensed by the National Dental Examination Board of Canada to practice as a general dentist.

Oliver Family Dental is another great clinic in Edmonton that we’ve heard good things about. So we went on over to see their dentists in action by trying them out ourselves.
Dr. Sharon Eng is one of their dentists at the clinic and we found her so warm and welcoming. We liked that she has light hands, making procedures virtually painless.
She also has a gentle demeanor so she’s great for people who feel a great deal of anxiety during dentist appointments. Her specializations are Invisalign and working with families and children.
So if you’re looking for a great pediatric dentist, she’s a wonderful option. Based on some of our conversations with her previous patients, she really prioritizes patient comfort and goes over and beyond to make sure children feel at ease during procedures.
Like many of the dentists on this list, she graduated from the University of Alberta. She has had a lot of experience through the years and it really shows in her professionalism, quick turnaround, and proven results.
Aside from Dr. Eng, there are two other dentists at the clinic and a moderately-sized team of dental hygienists, dental assistants, and people in charge of business and administrative tasks.
We found them to be highly efficient and responsive. We didn’t have a hard time booking an appointment.
That being said, we found their website very outdated. They have a lot of missing information, making it hard to look through their services especially if you’re a new patient.
They also don’t have set financing options, so that’s something to consider. Still, we think this clinic is worth looking into because of its reliability and great customer service.
