Advanced Facial and Nasal Centre is a non-hospital surgical facility led by Dr John Keohane. Dr Keohane has more than 25 years of experience in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
He completes around 300 major facial cosmetic procedures annually. This made us secure that we were in capable hands.
Aside from his extensive experience and skills in plastic surgery, Dr Keohane is also easy to work with. He has a good bedside manner and makes sure everything is clear when explaining.
He doesn’t rush things and gives personalized care to his patients. He provides safe and effective treatment, based on our experience.
We were also very impressed with the facility itself as well as the medical and nursing staff. The staff are all fully accredited and have worked with Dr Keohane for a long time, making their processes seamless.
We also liked that the facility is accredited and always inspected by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. So hygiene and sterility are always checked out.
As for anesthesia, all services are performed by fully-accredited Royal College of Canada Certified Anesthesiologists with years of experience.
They have amazing operating rooms and recovery beds, making them a one-stop shop for all kinds of surgical and non-surgical procedures. You can go to them for cosmetic treatments, consultations, and follow-ups.
They offer blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelids) as well as other procedures. They have a wide range of procedures such as rhinoplasty, facelift, Botox, and many more.
We like that they have an online form to use for booking, with separate forms for surgical and non-surgical procedures. However, we noticed that they respond faster if you inquire in person or via phone, so that’s something to consider.
We also wish their website was more updated. It’s a bit hard to look through their services.

We included Dr Adil Ladak’s practice in the list because of its strong reputation in the industry. Dr Ladak has an impressive background in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
He is a certified fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and is board certified in plastic surgery. He also completed a fellowship in peripheral nerve surgery and aesthetic and comprehensive breast surgery.
Aside from a stellar background, we appreciate how warm and welcoming the atmosphere at the clinic was. Dr Ladak is easy to talk to and walks patients through the whole process and presents options.
He has good attention to detail and tailors his care depending on the different needs of patients.
Aside from eyelid surgery, his clinic also offers the following procedures:

We noticed that compared to other clinics, the list of his services is not that extensive. So that’s something to consider.

We’ve heard amazing things about Dr Ball which made us so eager to check his practice out. We weren’t disappointed.
Dr Ball has extensive experience and an impressive educational background. He graduated from medicine school with honors at University of Alberta and completed his plastic surgery residency at the same university.
Despite his specialization being the hand and upper limb, eyelid surgery is still a procedure that Dr Ball has a lot of experience doing. He explains the process completely, making sure all his patients are aware of their options and are completely educated about the procedure.
He has such a strong work ethic and is very approachable. He answers questions and helps calm the anxiety of patients about the procedures.
Compared to other surgeons, however, we noticed that his list of available procedures is short.
So that’s something you have to take into account. Still, if you’re looking for a specific procedure such as eyelid surgery, then it’s still a great choice.
We like how complete and intuitive his website is, making it easy to look into his services. Booking a consultation is also a fast and seamless process through the form.

Renew Oral & Facial Surgical Centre is a non-hospital surgical facility that’s known for its consistently good service and wide range of procedures offered.
We were pleasantly surprised that aside from eyelid surgery and other facial cosmetic procedures, they also have oral surgery and facial reconstruction.
They have two surgeons in their clinic that you can choose from: Dr Saranjeev Lalh and Dr Carl Young. Both are talented at what they do and are approachable.
Based on our experience, they ensure that the whole process is organized and that patients are well-informed about their chosen procedure. They also understand that it might be scary for some so they make sure to lessen anxiety by thoroughly explaining everything.
The facility is also quite impressive. It is inspected and approved annually by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, Alberta Dental Association and College and Alberta Health Services.
All forms are available online and they’re easy to fill out. We do wish their website is more updated, however.
