The best golf coaches in Edmonton can tee students up for success!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Experience: Only coaches with 5-plus years of hands-on coaching and playing experience cracked a spot, confirmed through CVs, profiles, and data from the PGA of Canada.

Naturally, our team stuck with those who consistently deliver results, with feedback, interviews, and personal experience as our bases.

Credentials: While there’s no minimum requirement to be a golf coach in Edmonton, we still favoured accredited coaches, particularly those with PGA of Canada certifications. Past that, we looked into peer/industry recognition and tourney wins.

Communication Skills: Chatting with students and reading through blogs/forums helped us grade the coach’s ability to properly convey instructions and respond to questions. Those who adapt their teaching style scored higher.

Scope: We called and conducted interviews to determine if a coach focuses on a specific area or several, picking pros who offer a more comprehensive approach, including individualized lesson plans for children and groups.

Pricing: Lastly, cost-effectiveness was measured relative to the quality and scope of the services provided, with transparency, discounts, packages, and Edmonton pricing taken into account.

Golf might look relaxing, but it’s no easy sport. Every shot demands head-to-toe coordination and on-the-fly adjustment.

So don’t be shocked if even seasoned golfers take coaching lessons; they simply make sense for every level. For example, newbies can learn the basics, mid-handicappers get to refine their swing, and pros may boost their mental game.

Then there’s also the social side. Sessions can be shared with the kiddos or your mates, turning practice into something enjoyable.

Do you know which coach to book, though? If not, this guide rounds up Edmonton’s best at helping golfers stay on course.

How much do golf coaches in Edmonton charge?

In Edmonton, most golf coaches charge $60–$99 for a session that’s around 40–50 minutes. For a group of 4–8 golfers, the price is usually between $45 and $80 per person.

The primary factors influencing the cost are the coach’s experience/expertise, the facility’s condition, the use of cutting-edge tech, and the session type (private vs semi-private).

1. GOLFTEC

Address: 17556 100 Ave NW

Contact Details: +1 780-486-3233

Operating Hours:

  • Mon – 9 am to 9 pm
  • Tue – 9 am to 9 pm
  • Wed – 8 am to 9 pm
  • Thu – 8 am to 9 pm
  • Fri – 8 am to 6 pm
  • Sat – 8 am to 4 pm
  • Sun – 8 am to 5 pm

Website

GOLFTEC’s mission is to make people’s game sharper, and they’ve been at it since 1995.

The facility’s tech plays a major role in that. Players get to see their swing from multiple angles, thanks to high-speed cameras (OPTIMOTION), which track body movement and rotation.

Launch monitors are in place, too, and they provide data on carry distance, ball speed, spin rate, and launch angle.

Backing the gizmos are coaches who run customized lessons, even to junior golfers. It should be noted that most students gave props to their simplified and non-intimidating style.

Personally, the main snag comes down to commitment. Their system works best with follow-throughs and not isolated lessons.

Some of the brands used for club fitting might not align with your taste either.

If you’re “all-in,” though, GOLFTEC is worth a shot. The programs last months, and their app allows progress to be tracked beyond the simulator bays.

Pros

  • Open since 1995
  • ech-driven and weather-proof facility
  • Offers lessons for junior golfers
  • Flexible lesson format
  • Comprehensive support

Cons

  • Requires long-term commitment
  • Club fitting brand limitation

Amazing

It is well organized with greqt equipment. The rear and frontal video replay are amazing. Could not have made changes to swing without it. You think you did something like dropping your hands but the camera does not lie. However in my view no point in doing it unless for a longer term. One or two lessons and practice sessions will help a bit but show other issues if you make a longer commitment it will pay off.

Fantastic

I’m very disappointed in David Kuna… disappointed because he figured out my wife’s golf issues so well that now I actually have to try! 😅 After her last lesson, she knocked 14 strokes off her score and shot in the single digits — and she didn’t even use her driver. David, you’ve created a monster… my credibility is on the line now, no more goofing off and spraying balls everywhere.

On a serious note, David has been fantastic. Before we even started lessons, my wife was very clear that she gets confused by all the tech terminology. David respected that — he showed her instead of overwhelming her with jargon, and the results speak for themselves. The technology, visual feedback, and drills he provided have truly taken both her game and mine to the next level.

We’re excited to continue this journey, and I can’t recommend David and the team at GolfTech Edmonton West enough. Thank you, David, for your expertise, patience, and for making such a huge impact on our golf (and maybe our marriage competitiveness too!).

2. CCT Golf Centre

cct-golf-centre-logo

Address: 11925 Kingsway NW

Contact Details: +1 780-540-5400

Operating Hours: Daily – 7 am to 11 pm

Website

The elements don’t slow down CCT Golf Centre. Lessons are delivered indoors, with the space large enough to host 250 golfers.

It’s also techy enough to speed up progress and track it. Over 1,200 courses can be taken via the GSPro software; there are 28 simulators keeping lines from building up; and TrackMan/Flightscope launch monitors provide real-time data.

Where they fall short is in the booking experience. Sometimes, the system doesn’t honour appointments set online, resulting in golfers not getting the exact simulator they want.

A couple of staff members have also been said to be rude to clients who raised complaints.

We can’t knock on the coaches’ rep, though. PGA instructors, such as Matt Truong and Dave Nelson, lead the charge here.

On top of that, they offer private and small group formats without going way past Edmonton’s pricing. A complete 4-class package will set you back $135.

Pros

  • Open year-round
  • Coaches are PGA-certified
  • Spacious
  • Flexible lesson formats
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • Online booking system errors
  • Some rude staff

Super Helpful

We were there on Saturday afternoon for my best friends stag party, it was one awesome time! The staff was super helpful for anything we needed for the 4 hours we were there. Everyone had a great time, the pricing on the beverages was fantastic and we were never left with an empty pitcher. If you are ever wanting to have a party of 10+ people I definitely recommend this place.

I’m very confident in recommending Wayne

Requested measurement of lies and lofts for newly purchased irons. Wayne applied his considerable experience in correcting some considerable variances from stated specs. I’m very confident in recommending Wayne for any club work you need done.

3. The Quarry

the-quarry-logo

Address: 945 167 Ave NE

Contact Details: +1 780-477-8437

Operating Hours: Mon to Thu – 9 am to 3 pm

Website

If you’d rather train in a 27-hole course by Les Furber, driving to The Quarry isn’t a shabby move. Its three 9-hole layouts, Slate, Granite, and Ironstone, beat indoor facilities in scenery (you can say the same for these private golf courses).

The PGA-approved coaches are no joke either. Keith Whitecotton is among the most trusted, with notable feats in his resume, including his PGA of Alberta Golf Supply House Series win in 2015.

A one-hour private lesson will typically set you back $75, which isn’t that bad for Edmonton standards. After all, the session is individualized, and you can request a video analysis afterwards.

Even kiddos ages 6–12 can swing by and play on the short course for 8 weeks or join a training camp with a 6:1 student-teacher ratio.

To no one’s shock, the main weak point is The Quarry’s weather dependence.

Getting here from Downtown Edmonton via car also takes 27 minutes or more.

Pros

  • Scenic, 27-hole course
  • PGA-certified and winning coaches
  • Variety of lesson formats
  • Has an in-house restaurant
  • Hosts tourneys

Cons

  • Weather-dependent
  • 27-plus minutes from Downtown Edmonton

10/10

Course is an absolute treat to play. Beautiful scenery, course layout is challenging yet fun. Conditions are great as always. Food here is amazing with plenty of options to choose from. Staff were not only friendly but professional as well. 10/10 Course that I look forward to being apart of every summer.

Amazing Place

Beautiful scenery, immaculate conditions, easy communication with course professionals, and finally professional and polite staff. The feeling of being welcomed at a golf course matches no other than The Quarry Golf Club! Constantly upgrading and improving the course from the clubhouse to course maintenance itself, been in love with this place since the first time I drove down the hill. A busy golf course but managed extremely well by all staff, especially the cart cleaning staff. Would be an amazing place to host a wedding or any event as it holds a massive banquet room!

Thank you to all the staff for being so generous and polite!

4. Golfzon South

golfzon-south-logo

Address: 5431 Gateway Blvd NW

Contact Details: +1 587-524-9491

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 10 am to 11 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 10 am to 12 am
  • Sun – 10 am to 10 pm

Website

You can tee up on 225 renowned courses at Golfzon South without leaving the city! Realistic virtual games (something these arcades also have) are the facility’s main attraction, and they’re spot-on with the analytics.

Of course, Zeno Park, an actual coach, is available for those who prefer human interaction. Zeno’s teaching career is over 7 years, and his playing tenure is even longer at 20-plus.

The neat part is his rookie-friendly and basics-first approach. Among his areas of expertise is teaching newbies how to generate power safely.

If that’s child’s play for you, Zeno can adjust the lesson plan to a student’s level. Even seasoned golfers find his classes useful and entertaining, with reasonable pricing and seasonal discounts to boot.

In terms of downsides, manpower is one: Zeno is their sole coach here. That means you must call ahead, especially with Golfzon South’s incredibly high demand.

Luckily, it’s open year-round.

Pros

  • Tech-driven facility
  • Open year-round
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Offers special rates
  • Great for learning the fundamentals

Cons

  • Limited to one coach
  • High demand

Very Helpful

One of the best indoor golf facilities I’ve been to! Never used this system before, but it’s very user-friendly and the system gives you a feedback on your swing right away, so it’s very helpful. The staff is so nice and helpful. Great location, clean and great pricing! Highly recommend.

5. The Golf Factory

the-golf-factory-logo

Address: 10457 184 St NW

Contact Details: +1 587-930-5879

Operating Hours

  • Mon to Sat – 8 am to 11 pm
  • Sun – 8 am to 9 pm

Website

Space is seldom an issue at The Golf Factory. Clocking at 30,000 sq ft, it’s one of Edmonton’s biggest indoor golf facilities!

What’s even better is that it features PGA instructors. Golfers can book Alf Callowhill, a Gold-certified pro (Tour Read) with more than 20 years of teaching experience and wins in tourneys like the PGA of Ontario Tournament.

The other coaches aren’t far behind; Elizabeth Stewart and Brett Fujii, for instance, are Class-A golfers. Elizabeth was even named ACAC’s Women’s Golf Player of the Year in 2015.

Unsurprisingly, their services cost a premium, particularly Alf’s and Elizabeth’s. They normally charge $130–$150 for an hour of private coaching.

Limited availability is another concern. You’re looking at sought-after coaches, some of whom only accept students for a certain period.

On the upside, 21 Trackman simulators are in place. Why not start with them first to gather performance metrics?

Pros

  • Massive facility
  • Tech-driven
  • Club fitting services
  • Highly qualified coaches
  • 24/7 access for members

Cons

  • Premium coaching rates
  • Incredibly high demand

Truly Exceptional

My first visit to the Golf factory was truly exceptional. The staff provided comprehensive tours of the facility and ensured our needs were consistently met with utmost care. I commend the team for their outstanding professionalism and efficient operations.

Great Atmosphere

This place is a real find. Visiting on business looking to kill time this was close to my hotel. Staff was great the took me as a walk-in for a fitting. Great atmosphere and awesome set up as a first class facility with an indoor live sand trap. Plenty of room not stuffy. Wish I had one near my home.
