Aside from the chart-topping bangers and flashy costumes, what do hitmakers like Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga have in common? They invested in voice lessons!
Well, that’s hardly surprising. Good coaching builds vocal strength and confidence while sharpening control over tone, projection, pronunciation, clarity, and even confidence.
Finding the right teacher or studio is no nursery rhyme, though. For starters, you have to make sure their expertise, style, and pricing align with your aspirations or level.
Lucky for you, we focused on qualified and versatile instructors for this guide.
If you also play an instrument, we recommend checking out these local music stores.
How much do singing lessons cost in Edmonton?
In Edmonton, singing lessons typically cost $50–$80 per hour, with an average of $70. Half-hour lessons, meanwhile, are priced between $30 and $50.
Factors influencing costs include the teacher’s singing level and experience, the delivery format of lessons (online vs. in-person), the school/studio’s location, and the student’s level or goals.

- Fri – 9 am to 8 pm

It’s easy to see why Revolution Music International (RMI) hasn’t faded despite its 15-plus-year run.
For one, the studio is quite versatile. Students of all levels or ages learn through music theory and ear-based methods, with in-person, online, private, and group classes all offered.
Access to multiple resources is part of the deal as well. Sheet music, audio recordings, and videos are the usual materials handed out.
Just make sure to call them early. Slots are limited.
Pricing for 1-on-1 lessons isn’t for every budget, either. The 3-trial package alone will set you back $150 for 30 minutes, and there’s a $20 signup fee for most classes.
We say it’s not a bad spend, though. They’re Quality Business Awards’ 2025 Best Rated Music School in Edmonton, after all.
Most of RMI’s faculty are also professionally trained and actively play or sing. Some, like Oksana Vyrstiuk, even hold a master’s degree!

YaMusic

Operating Hours:

- Thu – 12 pm to 8:30 pm
- Fri – 4 pm to 8:30 pm
- Sat to Sun – 9 am to 5 pm
YaMusic starts them young. Kiddos can enrol from age two, which allows early skill-building.
The curriculum is also backed by decades of research. It’s rooted in the Yamaha Music Education System, so your child will develop through a holistic, 10-year program that’s recognized in over 40 countries.
We call it holistic because students learn how to listen to musical elements, play instruments, sing, and compose/improvise their own music.
And it’s highly qualified teachers who’ll take the lead. Jillian Meyer is one prime example; she has been teaching for 20-plus years, holds advanced degrees, and has compositions that have been performed internationally.
Unfortunately, YaMusic is child-focused. Adults can participate in classes, mainly through the demos, but tailored programs for grown-ups aren’t their main gig.
You can say the same for casual learning. The system is better suited for students who plan to stick around.
We are enjoying YaMusic!
We love the Apple Music class for 2-3 year olds at YaMusic. My daughter was initially shy but now enjoys the songs, dancing and musical stories to learn rhythm and simple melodies. Jillian is a very engaging teacher and has a beautiful voice. All the instruments and song book (a useful purchase with the course) are very high quality. We love the songs & the format (45 minutes) with lots of fun, engaging content that’s perfect for little ones. We are enjoying YaMusic!

- Fri – 2 pm to 8 pm

- Sun – 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Every type of singer can benefit from Windermere Music Academy. The studio’s faculty plans vocal lessons based on a student’s goal or preferred genre.
By faculty, we mean seasoned and esteemed musician-educators. Emilio De Mercato, for example, is a concert pianist teaching for 20-plus years, while Carol Liu, the founder, has over 32 years in her resume.
And the sweet part? We spoke with parents and students who noticed real improvements in singing and playing alike.
What may not be sweet for some is the pricing. With decorated instructors who’ve performed internationally come higher costs.
Another potential deal-breaker is their system of handling teacher-parent comms through the front desk. Transparency issues were raised before.
Fortunately, we see no major red flags when it comes to Windermere’s general approach. Lessons revolve around music theory, confidence-building, and performances, all while staying fun.
Great Place
My son’s been attending here since last summer. Great place! Very academic and highly energetic.
Huge thanks to Jackie, for always taking care of us parents & kids with passion.

Provides Lots of Stage Experience
My children have been playing piano with Carol for over 6 years, from beginner to now one in level 9 and one in level 6. Windermere music academy not only provide music lessons, but also provides lots of stage experience, which is super important and a great incentive to young children while they are learning instruments. Absolutely recommend Windermere music academy to whoever wants to get closer to music.

Resonate Music

Address: 13222 137 Ave NW
Contact Details: +1 780-457-0090
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Tue – 2 pm to 9 pm
- Wed to Thu – 1 pm to 9 pm
- Sat to Sun – 10 am to 6 pm
It’s hard to learn in a noisy environment, so Resonate Music invests in sound-treated rooms. Every element here, such as doors, walls, and air systems, minimizes sound transfer.
Their program is also year-round, unlike traditional semesters that pause for summer breaks. That brings two golden perks: a consistent, flexible schedule and zero “lost ground” caused by long breaks.
In addition, Resonate grants students complimentary time in a studio run by a certified producer and engineer.
Heck, they even let students rock out with a full-scale band through the Concert Series.
One drawback, though, is that vocal lessons are limited to students aged five-plus. Certain schools take kids as young as two!
Slots aren’t secured either, particularly for drop-in sessions. Given the studio’s popularity with both children and adults, as well as its Edmonton-friendly pricing ($35 for 30 minutes), it’s best to be quick.
Super Friendly
Resonate has been a home away from home for me since they opened. I’ve taken lessons here for over 10 years, until I began teaching here. Working and being involved with Resonate has proved to be my best decision. Michael is an amazing owner, the staff are all super friendly, and all of our clients feel like they’re at home. I’m very proud to be a member of the Resonate Community!

The atmosphere is warm
I can’t say enough about Resonate. The atmosphere is warm, the teachers are talented & caring. Through lessons, recitals, recording and performance opportunities, the staff here promote a lifelong joy of music for their students and families. Resonate was recommended to us and we try to pay that forward every chance we get by highly recommending this studio. As a school music educator myself as well as someone who has also offered group music lessons for young children and their families, I know a quality environment when I see it. Thank you to my son’s amazing piano teachers, to the Resonate team for giving my son so many memorable, unique music making opportunities, and to Michael for being so genuine – your customer service can’t be beat, and your passion for Resonate really shows!

Dominelli School of Music

Operating Hours:
- Mon to Wed – 3 pm to 9 pm

- Sat to Sun – 9 am to 5 pm
Dominelli School of Music is among Edmonton’s oldest and most inclusive. Since 2012, they’ve been providing lessons for students with disabilities such as Tourette’s and Down syndrome.
They also have experiential band programs grouped by age, skill, and musical taste. Coaching and rehearsals take place in studios with full backlines and PA systems, with live gigs happening every 2–3 months.
Fine Arts Preschool is another distinctive feature of theirs. Children aged 3–5 can sign up for $23 music, science, mindfulness, and yoga lessons (adult lessons are available here), all designed to prep them for recitals.
Your little one can even take lessons as often as needed or desired, be it once a week or daily.
It’s different for standard voice lessons, sadly. Dominelli’s teachers have set days.
On top of that, live make-up sessions are rarely provided. Students who miss a class must rely on video recordings to catch up.
Fun and Exciting
My son has been coming to Dominelli Music for a couple of years now. He has grown substantially and keeps growing with every lesson, gig and experience he is given. He is excited to come to his lessons and I truly believe that this has a lot to do with the energy, challenges and patience of the instructors he is with. Dominelli’s music is more like going to visit with family than a school. The owners and instructor’s treat everyone with such a warmth and respect that it really makes the learning experience fun and exciting. Keep up the Good Work Everyone!

The staff is friendly
My son has been taking lessons (guitar, drums) at Dominelli’s for over 6 years and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of instruction and the overall experience. The instructors are not only highly skilled musicians but also passionate educators. They are patient, encouraging, and adept at tailoring lessons to fit student’s interests and goals, making practice more enjoyable and personalized to him. Their flexible scheduling options, making it easy to fit lessons into a busy lifestyle, and the staff is friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any questions or schedule changes needed.
