We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Variety of Products: We looked into whether each store offered a wide range of souvenirs, from locally made crafts to classic keepsakes like postcards and magnets.

Quality of Merchandise: We assessed the craftsmanship and durability of the products. Whether it's clothing or handmade art, we prioritized those that offered durable options.

Price Range of Products: We compared the pricing across different stores to see if they provided fair value for the quality offered. A good souvenir shop offers both affordable and premium options.

Customer Services: We reviewed how attentive, knowledgeable, and approachable the staff were in helping customers. Staff who could explain product origins or give cultural context for each item.

Convenience and Accessibility: We evaluated how easy it was for visitors to find and access the stores. Locations near major attractions, downtown areas, or public transit were more convenient for travelers on tight schedules.

Souvenir, you say? When you’re in a city as awesome as Edmonton, you can’t just take home a generic fridge magnet you’ll forget about a day later. You need something that really captures the city.

In this list, we made sure to review places that offer artisan crafts, indigenous artworks, and foodie gifts. Of course, we can’t not include stopovers that sell your typical t-shirt and postcards too. In short, we made this list as diverse as possible.

You really don’t need another mug with a maple leaf on it (or maybe you do – it’s a nice gift after all!). You deserve the most unique gifts, and that hunt starts with our list of the best souvenir shops in Edmonton!

How much do souvenir items cost in Edmonton?

The cost of souvenir items in Edmonton ranges from $5 to $15 for small items and at least $50 for artisan items. Most shops are open to giving discounts when buying in bulk

Biggie is the ideal place for all things Canadian-themed. The store offers a massive selection of creative products, including magnets, postcards, and maple treats.

They even carry many original Edmonton-themed designs. As most shoppers can find options here that aren’t available elsewhere, we see them as a good choice for tourists who want to take a piece of the city home.

What makes them interesting is that they frequently introduce new collections. This keeps the shopping experience fresh, made even better by their fair and reasonable prices.

The only issue you may have is that the place is quite small, so it feels a bit cluttered with cartons of products around. On the good side, their staff is very welcoming – they can even pack large purchases for you or gift-wrap small items.

If you’re buying in bulk, you may use their delivery services – an option that isn’t always available in other shops. To be fair, the shop is already in a great location near Whyte Avenue, so lugging a purchase from the shop to your ride isn’t a hassle.

Pros

  • Wide variety of Canada-themed souvenirs
  • Original Edmonton-themed collections
  • High-quality products
  • Regularly updated collections
  • Packaging and labeling services available
  • Delivery services available
  • Convenient location
  • May offer free samples

Cons

  • Small and occasionally cluttered
  • Cleanliness needs improvement

OCanada is the ideal spot if you want to score goods without breaking the bank. On top of this, the shop is easy to access, with convenient on-street parking. If you’re on a trip, this is an easy place to stop by while exploring the city.

They carry a wide range of souvenirs, as well as Canadian-themed products like t-shirts, hats, hoodies, magnets, and postcards. The maple leaf symbol is exclusive to their brands, so you know you’re getting original and one-of-a-kind items.

Prices were fair and affordable, especially if you buy in bulk. We like that they’re generous with promotions too, offering discounts of up to 80%. Just take note that this depends on the season and bulk of your purchases.

The only downside is that product quality feels inconsistent – there are certain items that feel cheap compared to their prices. With this in mind, it’s advised to assess product quality while shopping, paying close attention to color and stitching.

On the good side, customer service is good, with staff often going above and beyond. Not only do they help customers find the right product, but they may even offer extras like stickers, pins, and t-shirts to those with big purchases.

  • Exclusive maple leaf branding
  • Fair pricing with regular discounts
  • In-house embroidery services available
  • Friendly and attentive staff

Village Goods is a great stop for those who want to explore unique, handmade, fair-trade products. Top options include home decor, jewelry, clothing, rugs, and books. They also sell specialty foods like teas, coffees, and chocolates.

Their products are ethically sourced by product artisans and communities around the world. If you’re into supporting fair-trade practices, this is a great start. This is Edmonton’s oldest fair-trade store as well, so their reputation is solid.

We totally loved the shopping experience here, thanks mostly to the staff’s personable and educational approach. During one of our visits, they even explained the cultural and social value of each item.

The prices are on the higher end, though, especially when comparing the average costs to other fair-trade or global shops in the city. Plus, you may notice that the selection is small, although, as mentioned, unique.

Fortunately, the quality and craftsmanship of the products really stand out. From woven baskets to silk scarves, there’s no denying the good value for money in each purchase.

Pros

  • Wide range of unique fair-trade products
  • Ethically sourced goods
  • High-quality craftsmanship
  • Edmonton’s most established fair-trade store
  • Knowledgeable and personable staff
  • Not-for-profit model

Cons

  • Relatively higher prices
  • Smaller selection than most

Good selection of items

“Village Goods has a good selection of Fairtrade foods, including excellent Zatoun olive oil from Palestine, coffee, chocolate, and baking goods. Every year I also check their website to see what planters they have in stock–from time-to-time they offer some very striking ones.”

– Jean DeBernardi, Google Reviews

Such lovely things

“My favorite place to shop in Edmonton, great art at affordable prices and hopefully beneficial to the artisans and craftspeople making such lovely things.”

Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

We find Edmonton Arts to be the ultimate stop for those who want to explore some of the city’s most unique products. Showcasing works from over 200 emerging and established local artists, customers can snag everything from paintings to pottery.

We appreciate their partnership with groups like the Indigenous Empowerment Fashion Collective. This allows them to exhibit Indigenous designers and creators. For buyers, this means access to Edmonton’s strong cultural scene.

What’s great is that the place acts as both a gift store and ticketing outlet for local and community events. So if you need something more than reasonably priced artisan products, you can score slots for activities too.

Accessibility is another major point, considering that it’s located in Churchill Square. If you’re exploring downtown Edmonton, this is a great place to score city-made goods, including scented candles and artwork.

Unfortunately, we found the customer service to be inconsistent – we noted visits in which staff appeared disengaged or just simply unhelpful. However, as we’ve heard from patrons, these are rare instances.

Pros

  • Wide variety of handmade items
  • Sells tickets to community events
  • Showcases over 200 Edmonton artists
  • Strong partnerships with cultural groups
  • Calm and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere
  • Supports local artists
  • Knowledgeable staff
  • Convenient location

Cons

  • Occasional inconsistencies in customer service
  • Limited access to the elevator at times

Carries lovely art

“Love the art and things they have in the store itself and having staff in the washroom area makes things a lot safer and better for passer-bys and people visiting the square.”

– Adrian Robinson, Google Reviews

Many unique offerings

“Great place to buy things to support local Edmonton artists. Lots of unique quality offerings in a range of prices.”

– Erin Foster, Google Reviews
