Best Used Office Furniture in Edmonton
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Are you looking to spruce up your workplace with some gently used, pre-owned furniture?  Luckily, we’ve put together a list today that can help you out with that!

We searched Edmonton far and wide to find the best deals for used office furniture based on their offerings, prices, extra services, and of course, customer feedback

If you’re ready, let’s take a look at the shops that sell the best used office furniture in Edmonton.

How Much Does Used Office Furniture Cost in Edmonton?

Furniture, just like other used items, often varies greatly in price depending on who is selling it. Pre-owned items are often sold at prices that are at the discretion of the seller and usually don’t follow a standard pricing scheme.

Generally speaking, used furniture is worth about half of its original retail value if the particular model is still in production. However, some furniture stores have been known to apply a 14% depreciation rate to furniture for every year since its original purchase date.

These prices can also fluctuate depending on the actual condition of the item because physical defects will affect resale value. When you purchase used furniture, it’s always best to check out different establishments to see how much they are selling a particular piece for.

Below is a table of some common office furniture with their standard retail prices and the estimated used price that you may find it selling for.

ProductRetail PriceUsed Price
Ikea Bekant desk$149$80 – $100
Varidesk ProPlus 48 standing desk $495$275 – $325
Herman Miller Aeron office chair$1,275$250 – $425
Cherry Brown Vintage Office Wooden Desk$289$169

This should give you some idea of the sorts of deals you can get when purchasing pre-owned office furniture. As you can see, the discount rate varies.

Goodwill’s mission is to help its fellow disabled Albertans find employment to support themselves independently. They first opened their doors in Edmonton in 1963 and have helped over 30% of the community find gainful employment.

The best part about shopping for your used furniture here is that for every dollar that Goodwill makes, they divert 89 cents back towards helping people with disabilities to find jobs.

Apart from visiting one of their many branches, checking Goodwill’s online thrift store is another way to see what they currently have in their inventory. Listings are refreshed every week but don’t expect to see a majority of their items online since they usually post featured items only.

However, checking their online store regularly has its perks because you’ll have a chance to spot newly refurbished furniture that’s been repaired by the Repair for Good team. This is an organization of persons with disabilities who breathe new life into used furniture.

There are downsides, though: Goodwill does not deliver any furniture items that you purchase. You’ll have to make arrangements to pick it up at the West End Impact Centre branch.

Still, even though the selections might be limited at Goodwill, purchasing your used office furniture here will at least leave you with a sense of satisfaction knowing that you helped persons with disabilities gain or maintain their current jobs.

Pros

  • Regular “yellow tag” sales and promotions per store
  • Shopping at GoodWill is tax-free

Cons

  • Only West End location accommodates pick-up
  • Rotating online inventory

“This  is the best place to shop in Edmonton!  When you enter the Goodwill you just never know what you’re going to find.  Best prices of all the thrift stores and great selection.”

If you want to find treasure, Goodwill is a good place to hunt. Josh Zadjler, an avid thrift store shopper shares:

“Goodwill, of all the thrift stores, has always been one of my staple go to shops. High quality items and lots of vintage treasures. The book section is fantastic for all readers.”

OPERATING HOURSMonday to Sunday: 10am-6pm

Find was first established in 2009 and aims to give free furniture to households that are struggling to lift themselves out of homelessness. This is done through a program called Housing First, where participants can enter the furniture “bank” or warehouse and choose any items they want.

With 2,260 square feet of space and 3 major operations around Canada, Find accepts donations. Whatever isn’t chosen by the participants of Housing First is sold to the general public at affordable prices.

Unlike other donation-driven establishments, Find offers to deliver any large purchase such as furniture for a small fee of $75. However, deliveries outside of the general vicinity can only be done every Saturday.

If you’re on the hunt for used office furniture, this is a good place to get started, although you may not always find what you need since every item on hand is stocked via donations. Further, Housing First participants often have more household furniture than “traditional” office furniture.

What you won’t be able to purchase here is large or oversized furniture, since Find does not accept these kinds of donations. However, if you’re setting up a small, casual, and contemporary office you’ll find sofas, computer desks, office accessories, and chairs that should suit your needs.

Pros

  • All proceeds benefit those transitioning out of homelessness
  • Stylish pre-owned furniture and decor
  • Great if you’re setting up a more relaxed or less “rigid” office

Cons

  • Inconsistent operating hours
  • No oversized office furniture

Customer Reviews

Find has always been known for its pristine second-hand items. Gillian Fradette, a regular customer, shares:

“I love coming here! I’ve donated and purchased many many items. The furniture is in great shape and they steamclean the fabric before it makes it out to the showroom.

The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. I have always walked out with at least one item.”

Dave, another customer, purchased furniture recently from Find as he writes:

“Excellent place and I’m thankful and grateful for their help with furniture. Staff are very polite and very helpful. The delivery crew are professional and knowledgeable.”

MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) Thrift shop first opened its doors in March of 1972 as a small-scale project meant only to last a few months. To the surprise of the four owners, it began to blossom and now has over 100 stores all over North America, with over half located in Canada.

The Edmonton branch first opened in 2003, moving to several locations before finding its current home today. Their operation relies on the help of numerous volunteers from around the area to help organize the many donations and make these items available at affordable prices.

While you can expect to find mostly clothing and personal effects at thrift stores, MCC Thrift Store is a perfect place to find antiques, sofas, couches, recliners, footstools, and various styles of office chairs.

For a truly unique office space, you’ll also find tables with varying functions and finishes including coffee tables and pre-owned computer desks. Additionally, if you need storage solutions, you’ll want to consider alternatives to stiff filing cabinets such as dressers, armoires, and bookcases, which you’ll find here.

So, why shop at MCC Thrift Shop instead of other furniture dealers? Because almost all of the profits from your purchase will be used to support relief and peace programs in more than 65 countries globally!

Pros

  • Portion of profits go to support relief and peace programs
  • Unique one-of-a-kind collectables for casual offices

Cons

  • Not for outfitting a “typical” corporate office
  • No delivery options

Customer Reviews
