Transit Smokehouse & BBQ goes way back in 1908 when Transit Hotel was built, and is now houses one of the best BBQ restaurants in the Edmonton area.
What we love about this place is how they’ve stayed consistent throughout the years and continue to serve the yummiest BBQ menu.
For their mains, many people rave about their smoked brisket and can’t get over how tender and tasty it is, and we’d have to agree!
Another fan favorite is their pulled pork that’s also tender and overall delicious. Even their sides are something to rave about, especially their mac and cheese and corn bread.
If you love a good dessert, we think you absolutely have to try their signature smoked ice cream. We were initially intrigued by it and ended up loving it.
We like how friendly their owners are and don’t miss out on the opportunity to ask how things are. Plus they have a live band that plays every night.
While the place and the food are all fantastic, many diners find that their meals are overpriced and we agree.
Overall, we think it’s a great place and we highly recommend!
- Great customer service
- Has unique offerings in their menu
- Live entertainment
“Finally made it to the Transit to try the new bbq joint out and it was fantastic. The three of us ordered a four-meat platter with a side of Mac and cheese and corn bread and it was more than enough food that we took some home. The meat was very tasty, particularly the brisket. Both sides were delicious as well. We went for dessert after and ordered the ginger cake (AMAZING) and the smoked blueberry ice cream (very intriguing and delicious as well). One of the owners, Ray, stopped by our table to ask how things tasted, which was appreciated. There is love music every night as well. I will be back for more bbq!“
“Dropped in on a Saturday night for a date night. We had no idea what we were going for, we just thought it was cool that the old building had been bought and wanted some BBQ. Walked in and realized there was live music, as we were taken to our seats the atmosphere of the place was great. Our server was really nice and helped us make some choices. We got brisket and sausage as well as fries and ceaser salad and everything was yummy. The owner/manager came and spoke with us and was really friendly and asked how everything was. Even the musician came and spoke with us for a moment. We had a good time with good food and music and will be back!”
