Costs and Doctors’ Fees for Cardiologists in Edmonton
An individual need not have an existing condition in order to schedule a consultation with a cardiologist. As such, cardiovascular health should be a primary concern to everyone.
With that said, health care providers will ensure that consultations and the necessary diagnostic and laboratory tests are fully covered.
The province of Alberta provides coverage for such services through the AHCIP, or the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. Residents of Alberta must present the health care card provided in order to access these services.
If not already registered, you may do so in order to gain access to a lot of health services. Once registered, you will be mailed your own health care card.
Consultations and the diagnostic tests required by the cardiologist such as ECGs, stress tests, echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms are all covered. Note that there must be a referral from the physician in order for the request to be processed.

As a doctor since 1981, Dr. Dylan Taylor specializes in adult congenital and structural heart diseases. Currently, he is the Facility Medical Director of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
Dr. Taylor received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Alberta in 1981, and a Fellowship in Echocardiography at the University of Alberta and University of Ottawa in 1991.
Aside from being an expert in his field trusted by both patients and colleagues, he also has extensive experience in administrative appointments in various hospitals. These include becoming Director of the Cardiology Residency Program between 1991 to 2003, and as Diagnostic Section Leader of the Cardiac Sciences Program from 1995 to 2009.

Dr. Ibrahim Bader is a consultant at Edmonton Cardiology Consultants specializing in general cardiology, internal medicine, and interventional cardiology. He specializes in cardiac stress testing as well.
In 2009, he finished his training in internal medicine at the University of Toronto. Then, he finished his cardiology training in 2012 in Edmonton, followed by two more years of interventional cardiology at the CK Heart Institute at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
He joined Edmonton Cardiology Consultants in 2014. Since then, he has been providing care to his patients. We found that he has a reputation among patients for accurate and quick interpretation of test results and assessment of symptoms.

Dr. Mike Hanninen is a dual-board-certified cardiologist in both Canada and the USA. While he is a consultant at South Edmonton Cardiology Consultants, he is also recognized internationally for being a cardiac device specialist and electrophysiologist.
He completed his cardiology training in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, and his cardiac device and electrophysiology training in London, Ontario and Bordeaux, France.

Children also suffer from various cardiovascular health issues, so we found a cardiologist who specializes in younger patients: Dr. Ian Adatia, who has a heart clinic for children.
He obtained his bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery in the United Kingdom in 1980. He also holds a Certificate of Special Competence in cardiology, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Canada in Pediatrics, just like the adult cardiologists in our list.
With these under his belt, we definitely see why so many parents recommended him to us in our search. Many told us that kids will be given the right care and attention in his hands.
Incidentally, he’s an expert in pediatric cardiac stress testing and transesophageal echocardiography. Hence, if your child needs attention related to those, he’s probably among the first doctors to consider.

Dr. Wayne Tymchak is a professor of medicine and is the Chief of the Division of Cardiology at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
He obtained his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Alberta in 1979, and is a licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada. Also, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Canada.
His achievements include his numerous publications and involvement in clinical trials for acute coronary syndrome, coronary intervention, cardiac transplantation, lipid, and gene delivery. From this alone, we can see that he is ready to employ newer techniques in order to improve quality of life.
But he’s not just known for his technical expertise. He actually came to our attention for his reputation as a doctor with an especially pleasant and understanding nature.
A lot of his long-time patients have praised him for his bedside manner. For this, he was recognized in 2012 by being awarded the prestigious Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
