Are you looking to have your skin rejuvenated or revitalized? If so, then this list that we’ve put together today is exactly what you need!

After thorough research, we’ve put together this list of the best chemical peels in Edmonton based on the quality of their services, reputations, rates, and Client reviews.

Before we dive in to find out where you can regain your youthful glow, we’ll talk a little bit about expenses first. If you’re ready, let’s see how much this is all going to cost.

How Much Does Chemical Peel Cost in Edmonton?

There are three main types of chemical peels you can get namely light, medium, or deep peels. There are several factors that can affect the pricing of each session such as the clinic you receive it at and the level of treatment you receive.

Light chemical peels, also known as superficial peels, are meant to only penetrate the topmost layer of the skin. These are best for those who want to do a quick refresh or smoothen their skin.

A medium chemical peel, on the other hand, targets the top and middle skin layers. This treatment uses slightly stronger acids to target fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and acne scars.

Lastly, deep chemical peels are used to combat ageing and to repair sun damage but use the strongest mix of acids. This is a medical procedure that requires sedation needs monitoring to ensure the healing process is going along smoothly.

To help you compare the differences between the three types of chemical peels, we’ve summarized them in the table below:

Light Chemical PeelMedium Chemical PeelDeep Peel
Average Price$150 – $300$1,000 – $3,000$2,500 – $6,000
Commonly Used ChemicalsGlycolic Acid Mandelic Acid Lactic AcidTrichloroacetic Acid (TCA), Jessner’s SolutionPhenol
Frequency of SessionsMonthly3-6 monthsOnce per lifetime
AdvantagesNo Downtime, less side effectsCan be used for multiple skin issuesPenetrates deeper skin layers
DisadvantagesCan’t treat severe sun damage or deep wrinkles1-2 week recovery timeMedical procedure that needs monitoring

Some clinics offer special package discounts for light chemical peels, usually in a series of 3 treatments. For example, if your chemical peel costs $120 for a single treatment, you can purchase a series of 3 treatments for $320.

Other costs to consider would be anesthetic creams or sedation, as is the case with deep peels. You may also have to pay for the use of any facilities or labor costs if performed in a separate outpatient clinic

With their medical-grade pore treatments, they only use chemical peels with products from Image Skincare. So if this isn’t the brand or manufacturer for you, then you may want to look for another clinic.

If you decide to go with Forever Young, their chemical peels can improve acne scarring, wrinkles, lines, and a variety of other skin concerns. They offer four different types of chemical peels here namely Lightening, Acne, Wrinkle, and Perfection Lift Peels.

For pigmentation or sunspots, the Lightening Lift Peel is the one to get, which uses a blend of lactic and kojic acids. On the other hand, if you have acne lesions and want smoother skin, you’ll want the Acne Lift or Perfection Lift which utilize anti-inflammatory agents along with hydroxy acids.

The most popular chemical peel at Forever Young is the Wrinkle Lift, which uses glycolic acid and Retinol to decrease the visibility of lines and wrinkles. This is popular with their clients because it results in firmer skin that looks refreshed.

Before you get your chemical peel though, a $25 consultation is required, wherein the practitioner will determine if your skin is suitable for the treatment. If you don’t pass the initial assessment, the practitioner will recommend which treatment is best suited for you.

With a wide array of treatments offered at Forever Young, you won’t leave without a solution for your skincare needs. Moreover, if you’re pleased with the results you get here, you can take advantage of one of their packages that offer spa treatments and massages.

OPERATING HOURSMonday and Saturday: 10:00am – 5:00pm

Wednesday to Friday: 10:00am – 7:00pm

Beauty Rewind was founded by Scarlet Gregory, who now also serves as its Director of Operations. She is an authorized laser technician with over a decade of experience in aesthetic treatments.

While her clinic began with foundations in cosmetic laser procedures, it has evolved to offer a range of aesthetic products that include microneedling, wrinkle-relaxing injectables, and chemical peels.

We like Beauty Rewind because the staff are registered nurses and are experienced in various aesthetic procedures and treatments. Chemical peels are one of their most popular services which help reduce the effects of sun damage, uneven pigmentation, lines, and wrinkles, just to name a few.

They offer only two types of light chemical peels, which contain common active ingredients to help rejuvenate your skin. These ingredients are lactic acid, resorcinol, and salicylic acid.

The Vivier Peel contains a less concentration of lactic acid and salicylic acid, thereby focusing more on stimulating collagen, evening out skin tones, and tightening your pores. This is the peel to get for glowing, firmer, and more supple skin.

The Skin TX Jessner peel, on the other hand, contains equal concentrations of the ingredients mentioned above. It’s better suited to treat acne breakouts, the visibility of acne scars, and can also help with line wrinkles and skin tone.

Beauty Rewind recommends at least three treatments for the best results and depending on your skin, you may need even six. You may want to ask how many sessions you’ll need beforehand during your consultation since chemical peels aren’t cheap.

However, they offer financing options via Paybright where you can pay in 4 biweekly payments or monthly installments up to 60 months. You can only apply for this though if you spend a minimum of $350 at the clinic, so you may want to pair up your chemical peel with microdermabrasion.

As a patient of Beauty Rewind, you’ll have access to MyTouchMD, a patient management app that’s available on both mobile or desktop. The portal allows private and secure online consultations where you can track your appointments, clinic records, and schedule free consultations.

Pros

  • All staff are registered nurses
  • Financing through Paybright
  • Existing patients can use MyTouchMD for consultations

Cons

  • Inconsistent operating hours
  • New patients can’t do online consultations
  • No deep chemical peels offered

Client Reviews

Beauty Rewind’s service focuses on their desire to help improve their clients’ self-image. They helped Lynn Jaanv as she writes:

“Beauty rewind has always had a professional, knowledgeable and a welcoming atmosphere soon as you walk in! I have been to both locations, both are very well maintained and clean! I highly recommend Beauty rewind when it comes to any of my aesthetic needs. I’ve never left unsatisfied, but always a smile on my face with a great boost of confidence.”

Kyrsten Lindgren decided to try out Beauty Rewind as a recommendation. She was so impressed with the results, she is now a loyal client:

“Cane here on a recommendation of a girlfriend! Have been here twice and am booked to go back in a month. All of the staff is super friendly and skilled. I’ve had 2 chemical peels, they give you proper information for after care and recommend the best process for progressing and give you skincare tips for your skin type. 5/5 highly recommend.”

CosMedics blends a traditional clinic and a cosmetic center, offering a wide array of spa and medical treatments. They specialize in anti-ageing treatments, skin resurfacing, and chemical peels.

Dr. Ashwani Singh is the director of CosMedics and is also a practicing doctor at the clinic. He has a background in cosmetic medicine and advanced aesthetics using non-surgical methods.

Clients like it here because some procedures at this clinic can be completed the same day as your consultation. The chemical peels at CosMedics have been referred to by its clients as the “lunchtime peel”, due to their safe and quick turnaround time.

Dr. Ashwani Singh has developed his own formula for chemical peels that is a combination of glycolic, lactic, and pyruvic acid. It can remedy fine lines, soften pores, reduce the visibility of acne and scars, among others.

The formulation is not restricted to use solely on your face but can also revitalize the skin on your neck and hands as well. If you have blemishes, wrinkles, or uneven skin tone, then this specially crafted chemical peel by Dr. Singh is worth checking out.

In fact, he will even perform the consultation and assessment of your skin personally, to check if will benefit from the procedure.

Take note that you shouldn’t use retinol or prescription face creams the day before and after you get this chemical peel. You’ll also need to avoid extended exposure to the sun and must use sunscreen every day for several weeks, regardless if you got the light “superficial” peel or the medium peel.

In short, CosMedics makes it to our list because the treatment is created, assessed and performed by a medical doctor, unlike other beauty or spa treatment facilities. Even though applying a non-branded in-house formulation of chemical peel might seem daunting, with the doctor on call, you’ll have less to worry about.

Pros

  • Specially formulated chemical peel
  • Quick turnaround times for chemical peels
  • Doctor will perform assessment and treatment

Cons

  • Short operation hours on Friday
  • $50 charge for missed medical appointments
  • $100 charge for missed cosmetic appointments

Client Reviews

The leadership and skill of Dr. Singh at CosMedics help make it one of the top clinics in Edmonton.

Gail Sobat, a long-time Client, says:

“Dr. Singh has provided professional expertise and guidance on my skin care for over five years. I trust him and his treatments completely. Perhaps what I most value is the relationship he has taken time to foster with me – so rare in any physician these days. Beyond that, I am deeply moved by the ways Dr. Singh gives back to the community – locally and internationally – this speaks volumes about him. He and his staff are patient and kind, even with nervous patients like me! I so appreciate the welcoming atmosphere of CosMedics.”

Rekka Beatty, a satisfied client at CosMedics, had a wonderful experience and shares:

“I love the girls at Cosmedics, both at the clinic and the spa. They know what they are taking about regarding the medical procedures they offer and the skin products they sell. Dr. Singh has been doing this a long time and he knows his stuff. He will give it to you straight. And he will give you many different options in order address the concerns that brought you into his clinic. I highly recommend checking this clinic out!”

Albany Laser & Cosmetic Centre’s medical director is Dr. Kamal Alhallak, who has a doctorate in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Alberta. He supervises the clinic with staff that has over 20 years of combined experience in the field.

Although a relatively new clinic, Albany Cosmetic and Laser Centre has already won a Community Choice award in 2018 as the best medical spa in Edmonton and has received a nomination in 2019 for the Best Laser Center.

As a master injector, Dr. Alhallak, specializes in a variety of laser and injectable treatments. However, the chemical peels offered by Albany Cosmetic and Laser Centre are worth taking notice of as well.

At this clinic, they offer TCA CROSS which stands for Chemical Reconstruction Of Skin Scars using trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Unlike other chemical peels, it is only applied to a specific target area and not the entire face because of its higher potency.

As the acronym implies, it’s more directed toward scars, so if you’re looking to soften your skin or eliminate wrinkles, this is not the peel for you. Those who have superficial acne scars, sunburned skin, post-acne pigmentation, and dark knuckles will benefit most from this treatment.

Additionally, the TCA CROSS is not ideal for those who have darker colored skin as the results may not be consistent. Those with darker skin are suggested to use a bleaching cream for at least two weeks prior to the treatment for better effects.

Moreover, getting this chemical peel will immediately create a white frosting on the skin of the target area and will have some stinging effects, but you shouldn’t be worried. An anesthetic is sometimes used upon request, which will be discussed during your consultation.

In addition, Dr. Alhallak will even personally spend at least 15 minutes with you for the consultation process to explain all the benefits, risks, and expected results from the procedures.

Pros

  • Offers payment plans via Paybright
  • Open Monday through Sunday
  • Specializes in injectables

Cons

  • Only offers one chemical peel

Becky Wilkins, the founder and Clinical Director of External Affairs, is a registered nurse and esthetician. With over 15 years of experience, she is most versed in injectables and advanced skincare treatments.

This clinic is made up of a team of 36 physicians, nurses, and skincare specialists that focus on aesthetic and regenerative medicine. They also have a Primary Care Clinic that can help manage any palliative conditions, chronic diseases, cancer screenings, or prescriptions you may need.

One of their most popular services is chemical peels, and they offer light, medium, and deep peels here. The procedures will be performed by one of their certified medical estheticians that have all been handpicked and fully trained.

You will go through a consultation first for these clinical procedures. They’ll ask for your complete medical history, current health conditions, and any known complications you might have.

Once you’re assessed and receive the green light for the chemical peel, the number of sessions you’ll need will also be determined. Their superficial peels are generally performed over several months while deeper peels are a one-time treatment only.

While they often recommend pairing their chemical peels with microdermabrasion for the best results, this will ultimately depend on your assessment first.

Skin conditions such as acne, discoloration, and surface irregularities can be treated with their chemical peels. Fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and skin texture can all be improved as well if the treatment is suited for you.

Be prepared that after the treatment, your skin may be red, flaky, and peeling for approximately  3-7 days. You’ll need to apply sunscreen and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during this time and the weeks following after.
