Lucky for you, Edmonton is overflowing with amazing options for kids and adults alike. And we’ve rounded up the best ones just for you!
How much do coding classes cost in Edmonton?

Vteach Learning Centre in Edmonton caught our eye because of their engaging and hands-on approach to teaching coding to kids and adults.
What we love most is how the curriculum balances beginner-friendly options like block programming with more advanced languages such as Python and web development.
Their course lineup is pretty exciting too, with programs like interactive Roblox game development, where students can build and code within the popular Roblox platform, as well as Python wizards and Arduino for those ready to take on physical computing.
We also noticed that the classes are super flexible, running for about 6 to 10 weeks with 60-minute sessions, so you can really find something that fits your schedule.
However, when we spoke with some clients, a few mentioned concerns about the cleanliness of the in-person facilities. While it wasn’t a dealbreaker for them, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re opting for on-site learning.
That said, their hybrid model, which allows for both online and in-person sessions, offers flexibility for families juggling busy schedules.
And their free assessment package? It’s a great way to kick things off with an initial consultation and detailed report to gauge where you stand.

We love how Code Ninjas blends fun and learning through their ninja-themed curriculum. Whether it’s video game building or coding with Roblox or Minecraft, there’s something for everyone.
What stands out is their belt system, where kids and adults progress from white to black belts as they master coding concepts, keeping them motivated while developing problem-solving skills.
Their flexible schedule is also a win since you can drop in during weeknights and weekends. For younger ones, the JR program introduces coding in a simple, no-reading-required format. Classes start at $199, making it pretty accessible.
We did hear some feedback about the coding platform they use, Impact, which could use a bit of improvement.
But overall, we love the range of programs, from summer camps to “Parent’s Night Out,” giving both kids and parents something to look forward to.

Encourages learning through play and creativity
“Our daughter had her first coding experience at Code Ninjas Summerside this past summer. Going from zero coding experience, she managed to learn to create a cartoon sequence and program a couple games. Thanks to her very patient and attentive senseis. She surely had tons of fun and what better way to learn than through playing. Thumbs up!”

We’ve got to say, Discover Coding has impressed us with their “discovery-based learning” approach. Instead of drilling memorisation, they get their students involved with hands-on projects that keep them engaged and actually build their confidence.
Programs like Code Discoverers give younger ones a fun intro to tech, while Python Builders let older kids and even adults tackle text-based coding – pretty cool stuff.
We’re big fans of their Minecraft coding classes too since you get to learn while playing, creating mods, and even exploring circuitry through Minecraft’s Redstone feature. It’s fun and educational all in one.
They also offer PD Day camps, after-school programs, and summer camps, so there’s plenty to keep students engaged year-round. At $220 for 10 weeks of classes, it’s a solid value for the hands-on learning you get.
However, we did hear some complaints about the staff – some customers described the experience as less than pleasant, which is definitely something that could be improved.
Provides a great foundation in coding for beginners
“Discover Coding program in school is great! My kids really enjoy it, and I believe it’s a great introduction to computers and coding for young children. Their summer camps are amazing, my son said the Minecraft camp was the funnest camp all summer!”

“We started with Discovery Coding in the July -summer program on Saturdays- To be honest I was hesitant at first but I’ve got nothing but amazing results & great feedbacks. So we decided to continue with Discovery Coding coming every Saturdays. My son loves and is doing amazingly and making awesome progress & lots of potential. My son loves the instructors there. They make him feel comfortable and he works on his pace which is a double bonus. Truly a good place for all kids from all ages to come and learn.”

We really like how Code Galaxy tailors its curriculum to fit those aged 7 to 18, letting them learn at their own pace.
Whether they’re starting out with drag-and-drop platforms like Scratch or diving into Python, JavaScript, or game development, there’s a program for every level.
What stood out to us is how their instructors manage to make even the more complex programming concepts fun and easy to understand.
We heard from parents that younger students love building games and animations, while the more advanced ones are tackling projects like apps and websites using Pygame or Roblox.
One of the biggest perks has to be the convenience – since it’s fully online, your kid can join from anywhere, and with their flexible scheduling, rescheduling a class is hassle-free.
Starting at just $60 a month, plus a free trial class to test the waters, it’s honestly a pretty solid deal for what you’re getting.
Improves understanding and confidence in coding
“It has been a very helpful class that has taught me lots about coding. It’s helped me perform better in computer classes in school, and allows me more options at school.”
Zach Hittner, Code Galaxy
Offers a positive and enjoyable coding education

What stands out about MakerKids Edmonton is how their programs mix coding with robotics and Minecraft, giving all their students a well-rounded experience.
It’s not just about learning how to code – kids get hands-on with creating their own games, from character design to animation, and even learn critical skills like internet safety and teamwork along the way.
While we were hoping for in-person classes in Edmonton, those are only offered in Toronto. But the good news is they provide virtual classes for Edmonton residents, starting at $145, which is quite affordable for what you get.
Their more advanced courses in Python, web design, and robotics offer a chance to develop real-world skills that could set them up for future tech careers.
And if you’re on the fence, they’ve got a free trial class so you can see if it’s a good fit for you or your child.
Maximises screen time with meaningful activities
“Best investment to make my children’s screen time with purpose. The program is very receptive to feedback. It allows making switches to classes or scheduling make-up classes. The small class size also keeps the kids focused and engaged. I highly recommend this program.”
