As a hot pot enthusiast myself, I’ve grown a bit picky about my favorites.
If the soup is all spice and no taste, that’s a no for me. If the ingredients are all meat and no seafood, that’s a no for me too.
Above all, I dislike hot pots that are too large to enjoy alone. I also can’t stand a base menu that’s so small it feels like my group is going on a crash diet.
So, I decided that I’ll find hot pot restaurants that offer just the right amount of goodness. And of course, I only had to pick the ones that balances portions with amazing flavors!

The variety of broths at Chili Hot Pot was impressive, and I ended up choosing their spicy Szechuan soup that had just the right kick. The robot delivering food to our table added a fun touch!
I can’t complain about the food too – the ingredients were plentiful and there’s an incredible selection of meats and veggies. With a nice hot pot, the beef tenderloin was an awesome match, especially with how tender it is with fried rice.
The vast dipping sauce bar is also worth the mention, so feel free to go crazy.
While it wasn’t self-serve, the staff did a good job customizing the flavors to my liking. To wash everything down, their lemon iced tea was the perfect choice for its refreshing taste.
What made the experience even more enjoyable was the relaxed vibe, even though the restaurant was small and packed with diners.

I had heard so many good things about The Melting Pot in Edmonton, and it absolutely lived up to the hype!
The food was fantastic, with each course bringing something unique and full of flavor. I especially loved the fondue concept, which was something different from what I’m used to.
Instead of the usual steaming soup base, the ingredients are dipped into melted cheese or chocolate. It’s a different type of experience, but it’s something you might love if you have a sweet tooth rather than a taste for spice.
The meat was juicy and tender enough to soak up the dip. The vegetables were just as good, and you can clearly tell that they were fresh and new for the day.
Our server was amazing—attentive without being overbearing. He made excellent recommendations for sauce and food combinations. We also never had to wait long for anything.

The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a great place for both small and larger gatherings.
The variety of the all-you-can-eat dinner was impressive, though I would love to see more seafood options added to the mix. One of my top picks was the mushroom soup base, which had a delicious depth of flavor that really elevated the entire meal.
Oh, and be on the lookout for Angus beef, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Plus, the fried quail eggs were something I couldn’t get enough of!
