The Aviary is a local club that never, ever stops promoting Edmonton musicians, artists and chefs. It is quirky, spacious, fun and always a different experience. The owners and staff are amazing and accommodating to everyone, as well as completely approachable. The regulars are from all walks of life and musical tastes and very happy to have new people to hang out with. The beer and wine selection is amazing and adventurous for a place of that size I have been to several special events there and have always had an absolute blast. The Sewing Machine Factory is strictly 18+, so no minors are allowed on their shows, whether they’re live music shows or art spaces. That being said, it’s quite enjoyed by plenty of adults, since they cater to a variety of performing arts.
From music to comedy and spoken word, they focus on local talents and being a community centered space for the arts. This makes them one of the best music venues in Edmonton for their flexibility and variety in offers.
We did say their spaces are 18+, but don’t worry, they’re working on programs that are for all-ages.

This venue is one of my favourite places in town. They host all kinds of events, usually live music, but also have spoken word poetry, workshops, video game nights, and markets. The staff is all incredibly wonderful and super accepting and LGBTQ+ friendly. The price to get in is usually $10, but have a pay what you can policy. No one gets turned away. They have the best homeade and personalized grilled cheese sandwiches. The staff also makes an effort to get to know their patrons and regulars on a personal level. They make everyone feel safe amd comfortable. They also have gender neutral single stall washrooms.

A really fun venue with an interesting layout. I like the use of a smaller stage for smaller acts, as it keeps the feeling more intimate than the full size stage behind it. There’s a lot of potential with such a setup and layout to create very cool music experiences. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they obviously know how to show patrons a really great time. Good vibes from the whole place: everyone was just there to have a good time.
The act playing the night I went was obviously still in high demand when they called out their last song. Management actually offered to cover them for another set, which was really awesome. All in all I’m excited to check this place out again and if you’re a live music fan it’s definitely one of the coolest venues in town. Thumbs up!

The overall vibe in the establishment is best described as ‘pure’. This was my first time staying at the Commercial Hotel and for what I payed for is what I expected. It is a little rough around the edges but the room I was in was comfortable and clean as was the shared bathroom(s) and shower room. The location is awesome! It’s directly in the middle of Whyte Ave party district and near all major bus routes. I would totally stay there again.
