Hopping between shops near Whyte Avenue for a specific quilting pattern can feel endless, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve bought extra fabrics “just in case” to avoid leaving empty-handed.
After dealing with that kind of wasted effort, I decided there had to be a more straightforward way to get the supplies I needed.
That’s why I created a list of quilting stores that make it easy to find fabrics, patterns, and tools—without all the extra running around.
How much do quilting supplies cost in Edmonton?
Quilting supplies cost between $2 and $50+ per item, depending on the type and quality. Fabric prices usually range from $10 to $25 per meter, while quilting kits and specialty tools can go up to $50 or more.
1. Pat Man and Bobbin Quilting and Batting

Address: 15714 86 Avenue NW
Phone: (780) 993-6815
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pat Man and Bobbin Quilting and Batting immediately stood out for its quilting supplies.
They carry Winline batting, hand-dyed and painted fabrics, and longarm quilting tools, which made it easy for me to see options for different quilt sizes and techniques.
While browsing, I spoke to one of their customers who shared how much she values their hand-dyed fabrics and the staff’s advice when choosing batting for specific quilts.
The staff were friendly and happy to answer my questions, which made exploring the quilting materials straightforward and enjoyable. Some specialty fabrics felt overwhelming at first, but the staff helped me choose with confidence.
I also love that they stay active in the local quilting scene, attending events like the Edmonton Quilt Festival and sharing online videos on pantograph patterns to help quilters learn new techniques.
The only drawback is their online presence. While they post on social media, it doesn’t fully show the variety of batting, fabrics, and quilting services available.
Pros
- Knowledgeable, attentive staff
- Educational contents
- Participates in local quilting events
- Wholesale batting supplier
- Specializes in quilting supplies
Cons
- Limited online presence
Outstanding service
“Such an excellent company located in Edmonton. Their prices are beyond competitive and their service is amazing!. I’m 6 weeks out for a knee replacement so I inquired if he would be able to deliver. A few hours later it is in my home in Beaumont!!! Thank you so much! Shop local quilters, we need to support them more than ever now <3”

2. Sew Clever Inc.

Address: Traputo – 7019 104 St NW
Phone: +17804660921
Business hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 10:00am – 5:00pm
- Sunday: Closed
Sew Clever Inc. caught my attention because of their focus on custom quilting tools that make projects easier and more precise.
I found their range of acrylic templates especially useful. They’re precision-cut for quilting, applique, and bag-making. They really help save time and reduce fabric waste—a detail that matters when working on larger projects.
I also liked that they offer laser-cut fabric pieces. These pre-cut for applique and basic blocks made it much simpler to start a project without spending hours cutting fabrics myself.
You can tell these tools come from someone who really knows quilting. Lauri Remin, the founder, draws on her experience in design and construction to make them practical and inventive.
Another thing I appreciated was their community presence. Sew Clever takes part in events like the Edmonton Quilt Festival and Central Alberta Quilters’ Guild shows, which makes it feel like they’re really connected to local quilters.
I found their online ordering convenient, especially with the option to pick up items at Trapunto. However, if you like browsing in person, the limited retail availability can feel restrictive.
Pros
- Offers convenient online shopping
- Participate in local quilting events
- Led by an experienced quilter
- Provides pre-cut fabric pieces
- Offers precision-cut templates
Cons
- Limited retail presence
Thoughtful service
“I ordered custom acrylic templates from Lauri and I was extremely happy with the product received. Quick service and turn around time from ordering to shipping and a quality product received. Lauri even conceptualized a better way to produce my order in order to provide me with cost savings. Will definitely order from Sew Clever Inc. again!”

I heard about Quilter’s Dream from my aunt, so I decided to check it out while exploring quilting shops in Edmonton.
The selection of fabrics is impressive—over 5,000 bolts of 100% cotton, with options for both modern and traditional quilters. I appreciated being able to browse so many patterns and colors in one place, which made planning my next project very exciting.
Beyond fabrics, the store carries a full range of quilting essentials, including precuts and notions. Having everything under one roof made picking up the extras I needed for my projects convenient and efficient.
I also liked that Quilter’s Dream is part of Johnson’s Sewing Centre, a trusted name in Edmonton since 1969. It gives me confidence that the products are reliable and the staff are knowledgeable when I have questions.
Another highlight was their events, like the Quilter’s Dream Quilt Challenge, which makes it fun to get involved and see what others are creating.
The only drawback is that with such a large inventory, it’s really best to visit the store in person. It’s hard to get a full sense of their selection or receive tailored advice if you’re only browsing online.
Pros
- Knowledgeable staff
- Engaging community events
- A trusted name in Edmonton since 1969
- Comprehensive product range
- Offers over 5,000 bolts of 100% cotton fabric
Cons
- Physical store visit recommended

Impressive selection, caring staff
“One of the best fabric/quilting stores in the city! They have an incredible selection of quilting supplies, patterns, and batik fabrics. The staff are always welcoming, knowledgable, and friendly; they really seem to care. When I phoned the 124 street location looking for a specific fabric line, an associate named Heather found it and provided exceptional personalized customer service. Thanks again, Heather!”

Trapunto quickly became my favorite spot because of the quality and variety they offer all in one place.
Their fabric selection stood out to me. They have local favorites and some unique imported options. It’s clear they choose materials for all kinds of tastes, from modern prints to classic quilting basics.
I also liked their hand sewing and sashiko supplies. It’s so much easier to try new techniques when everything you need is in one place.
Staff were helpful and clearly experienced, giving tips that made choosing fabrics and planning projects a lot easier.
You can also take advantage of their long-arm quilting services, suitable for quilters of all experience levels.
I’ve also heard about their workshops, and I want to try one soon. My friend actually went to a session once and learned a lot of new skills, which made me a bit jealous.

Marshall Fabrics comes highly recommended by a lot of locals, and it’s easy to see why.
They have a huge range of fabrics, from quilting cottons and knits to fleece and home decor materials. I really enjoyed checking out their specialty and licensed prints, which gave me some unique options I hadn’t seen anywhere else.
The store has a roomy, organized layout, which makes it simple to browse and compare fabrics. I loved browsing the clearance rack and catching their regular promotions. It made trying out new fabrics feel much less risky.

Reliable spot, extensive selections
“Marshall Fabric is hands down the best fabric store in Edmonton. The have a wonderful selection of otherwise hard-to-get knit fabrics, tons of licensed prints, and quilting fabric that goes on for miles. Polar fleece options up the wazoo. Every sewing notion you could ever want. Their clearance rack is also worth a browse!
A local gem. Better than Fabricland, for sure! Highly recommend.”
