Dione Taylor is a blues, soul, jazz, and roots singer and songwriter. She was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Since her Juno-nominated debut album “Open Your Eyes” in 2004, she has made her name as a singer around the world. She has performed in the USA, Canada, and Asia for audiences that included the President of the United States and Queen Elizabeth II.
She also received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award Mentorship Program.
Dione Taylor refers to her music as “Prairie Blues” which is described as the amalgamation of roots, Gospel, blues, and Americana. She is heavily influenced by the music of Sarah Baughan, Aretha Franklin, and Son House.
For her upcoming show, you’ll probably hear a lot of her songs from her recently-released album, “Spirits in the Water.” The album was inspired by the mythical folklore of the Tanasi River in Tennessee, where a woman sings songs in order to protect the people who hear her.
Her album means to explore “the healing journey back to the self” through her songs like How Many Times, Water, and Where I Belong.
You can buy her album from her website or stream it on Spotify and YouTube Music.
