Calling all Edmontonian Directioners- let’s kick off the new year with some nostalgic music and a whole lot of fun! This January 20, Up Dance Party Co. is holding a One Direction-themed dance party at Union Hall (6240 99 St NW Edmonton, AB T6E 6C). 

Doors open at 9 PM, and the party will last until 2 AM. So yes, we can go “crazy, crazy, crazy until we see the sun”. 

(Admit it, you sang it in your head!) 

One Direction, also known as 1D, is an English-Irish pop boy band formed in 2010. The group consisted of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayne Malik until he departed from the band in 2015. 

They signed with record label Syco Records after forming in the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010. Watch the video below if you want to see their journey in the show. 

Since then, they have released five albums, including Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014), and Made in the A.M. (2015). 

These albums have continuously topped charts all over the world. They’re known for hit singles like "What Makes You Beautiful", "Live While We're Young", "Best Song Ever", "Story of My Life" and "Drag Me Down”. 

One Direction is actually the first band in US Billboard 200 history who has four albums debut at number one. They definitely did make history as a band. 

In August 2015, the band announced that they were going on hiatus. This happened five months after Zayne Malik left the band in March of that year. 

Since then, all members have released their own music. Harry Styles even pursued a career in acting afterwards. 

Despite the breakup, fans still continue to love their music. And this 1D-themed dance party is just one of the ways fans keep the fandom alive. 

It will be a great chance to listen to music from the group’s discography while partying with fellow Directioners here in Edmonton.
