Reviewing the Clinics with the Best Prenatal Massage in Edmonton

But where do you start?  There are so many massage clinics in Edmonton, but not all of them offer prenatal massage.

In order to make things easier for you, we selected the best prenatal massage services in Edmonton who excel in the following criteria:

Customer service, because we’ve all had that one experience with rude staff that can turn us off a service.  Getting a massage is meant to be a relaxing experience, and part of it is being met with friendly smiles from the entrance to the exit. This criterion also covers how they handle guest complaints and cancellations.
Ambiance, specifically the environment and its comfort.  We all know pregnant women have sensitive senses, so in our opinion, having a comfy location is as important as the massage itself.
Professionalism and expertise.  We took into account the experience and background of the massage therapists in each massage clinic to find the best options for a prenatal massage in Edmonton.

In terms of overall service quality, Healing Point Massage Therapy is definitely one of the best prenatal massage services in Edmonton.

Not only do they have glowing reviews on the massage they provide, but their staff is also widely acknowledged to be attentive and professional.

All massage therapists on their team are registered in good standing with various groups such as Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association (CMMOTA), Certified Registered Massage Therapist Association (CRMTA), Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC), and College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA).

Aside from that, the clinic itself is clean and beautiful.  They own a lot of top-of-the-line equipment and their linens are, honestly, the bomb.

We also appreciate the great emphasis this clinic puts on communication.  All too often, we leave a massage therapist without knowing exactly what was done and why.

Not here, though. Healing Point Massage Therapy makes sure you leave knowing exactly why they do what they do.

They even provide helpful tips and insights on how to do home stretches to help ease the tensions they found on your muscles.

The only con we can see so far is that they’ve had a few issues with appointment and cancellation policies which require 24-hour notification.  However, it is often the case with massage therapists, particularly since the pandemic.

We recommend calling at least 24 hours prior if you want to make changes or cancel your appointment.  In the event of an emergency, they often do make considerations and provide refunds on a case-to-case basis.

That said, they seem to handle complaints gracefully and often reach out quickly to settle the matter with their clients. They also offer membership plans with discounts for multiple appointments.

All in all, they will make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way. In our opinion, that makes them one of the best places to get a prenatal massage in Edmonton.

Pros

  • Registered massage therapists
  • Friendly and communicative staff
  • Cozy atmosphere
  • Offers membership plans
  • Direct billing

Cons

  • Strict appointment and cancellation policy

Customer Reviews

Really cares

Best massage I have ever had. You can tell the owner really cares when she is working on you. She even gives you little tips on proper stretching. I noticed my shoulder felt better, after the first visit. She did what chiropractors couldn’t do. Highly recommend.” —Canadian mistake, Google Reviews

Knowledgeable and professional

“My appointment was with Veronica.  She asked me what was going on with my body and proceeded to work on all my troublesome spots.  She gently but firmly worked out sore spots and tight muscles.  She also gave me tips for stretching to help fix some of these problems.  I highly recommend a therapeutic massage with her.  Very knowledgeable and professional.   I booked my next appointment to continue on this healing path.  Thank you!” Kathy Holmes, Google Reviews

Got Knots Massage Therapy consists of a team or registered massage therapists.  They are registered in the Remedial Massage Therapists Association, Natural Health Practitioners of Canada, or Massage Therapy Association of Alberta.

Their main focus seems to be prenatal massage and cupping therapy.

Got Knots has a small team of only four therapists, but they are all very capable.  Several members of their team seem to be capable of using other massage techniques as well such as reiki, reflexology, trigger point release, and others.

This myriad of modalities makes this team one of the best prenatal massage services in Edmonton.  You can be sure they can anticipate the individual needs of their clients.

They have very friendly staff and have clean rooms and offices.  In our opinion, the place is cozy and has a homey feel to it.

While not as aesthetic as others on this list, they have comfortable spaces where you can relax while you wait for your appointment.

On the subject of payment, they are more or less at par with the rest of the services we have on this list.  While they do not offer membership plans like Healing Point, they do offer bundles or a discounted rate for 6 or 12 massages.

Pros

  • Registered massage therapists
  • Clean and comfortable rooms
  • Offers bundles
  • Direct billing

Cons

  • Small team means they have limited slots for appointments

Gave me the massage I was looking for

I am 24 weeks pregnant athlete, and Danielle at Got Knots gave me exactly the massage I was looking for; the best I’ve had yet! She was in tune with what I needed/wanted and was very friendly, as were all the staff I interacted with there. I will most definitely be rebooking. Highly recommend.” —Kat Fawley, Google Reviews

We all know your education does not define your value as a person.  However, when it comes to health, it’s vital that we go to professionals who have studied long and hard about their fields.

We chose Integrated Therapies Massage and Wellness because they have a team of registered massage therapists who can provide engaging and professional pregnancy massage.

Their group is composed of 13 massage therapists, all of whom are highly trained. Most of their team can provide prenatal massage, so you should have no issues booking one of them.

Apart from that, they have a beautiful and cozy ambiance that makes you feel relaxed the moment you step inside the door.

They are located in a  beautiful heritage home in Old Strathcona, but they also have another branch in West Edmonton.  Both places are stunning and cozy, so that’s another thing we like.

In fact, they’re very Instagram-worthy, so that’s a plus for younger moms.  They also have very helpful and kind staff, from what we’ve seen – they even offer tea as you wait!

As is the norm, however, they are also very strict on appointments and cancellations.  They charge by the hour, so we suggest arriving exactly on time for your appointment or calling ahead of time to make changes or cancel.

Pros

  • 13 registered massage therapists means a lot of choices
  • A cozy and inviting atmosphere
  • Friendly staff
  • Direct billing

Cons

  • No membership plans
  • Strict appointment and cancellation policy

Lovely, warm, and inviting

Could not have been more pleased with my first-time experience at Integrated Therapies. It came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. The facility was lovely, warm, and inviting. My therapist, Nan, was engaging, knowledgeable, and super-professional in every way. He found knots I didn’t know existed and I noticed a huge difference in my range of motion immediately. Can’t wait for my next appointment!—Dawn Leslie, Google Reviews

Personable and professional

This is a stand-out massage & wellness center. From the time of booking my appointment to the time I walked out the door when my treatment was finished. The south side location has an exceptional vibe. Catarina, my massage therapist, is phenomenal. She is personable and professional. Her treatment is obviously backed with much knowledge, art, and skill. Catarina practices a variety of therapies that enable her to suggest follow-up with the best therapy after she has become aware of my specific needs. Five-star, hands down!—stewartl., Google Reviews

Therapeutic Body Concepts has over 500 reviews on Google, and with that, they still manage to achieve a 4.9 rating.  They also received the Top Choice Award for Consumers for three consecutive years.

With three branches, they have a large team of registered massage therapists scattered in West and South Edmonton as well as St. Albert.

This makes them more accessible than most, and busier.  That said, their staff remains accommodating and friendly, which is always a sign of consistent customer service.

They also keep their place clean and relaxing for the best prenatal massage experience, according to the clients we’ve talked to.  However, they have a relatively small waiting area, so we suggest arriving strictly on the dot of your appointment to avoid either waiting outside.

Like the rest of the massage services on this list, they are strictly by appointment and charge for no-shows and cancellations at 50% of the service, which we feel are reasonable.

They have softened their rule on cancellation in light of the COVID pandemic, but we still recommend notifying them at least 24 hours before making changes or canceling the appointment unless you are feeling unwell.

Therapeutic Body Concepts does not seem to offer membership plans as of now, but they do offer direct billing to your extended health benefit provider.

Pros

  • Three branches
  • Large team or registered massage therapists
  • Direct Billing

Cons

  • No membership plans
  • No show charge of 50% the service fee
  • Small waiting area

Listened to concerns

“Christina was wonderful. Went for a prenatal massage and she did such a great job. [The] pressure was awesome which is always something that can be hit or miss. She listened to my concerns and wasn’t trying to prove anything. Could be the best massage I’ve ever had! Thank you :)”—Emily Hudson, Google Reviews

Relaxing and warm atmosphere

“Alexandra Krause was absolutely incredible. The most relaxing massage I’ve had in ages. And the best prenatal massage I’ve had so far throughout my pregnancy. All staff and associates of Palms Therapeutic are registered massage therapists.  Five of them are trained to handle prenatal massage.

They are all very professional and highly trained as well as friendly and accommodating.

Palms Therapeutic has really cute “beach” accents to go with their name.  Every area is clean and bright, which makes for one of the prenatal massage services in Edmonton.

The quaint and welcoming atmosphere will please you and help you relax during your session.  Meanwhile, for each prenatal massage session, you can choose whether to lay on your side or use cushions to support you.

The staff will listen to your concerns and focus on the problem areas you point out, which we feel is great.

While they are also on an appointment basis, they are very accommodating when it comes to rebooking your reservations.  Just be sure to inform them way ahead of time to avoid any scheduling issues.

As part of their COVID protocols, we also advise you to arrive on the dot of your appointment to give time for sanitation and disinfection.

One thing of note is their distinction between staff and associates.

Staff is the group of massage therapists who work on direct contract with Palm Therapeutic.  Associates are massage therapists who run their personal practice outside of Palms.

There have been a few instances where this has caused scheduling conflict.  While their system seems to be working well for them so far, we still feel that this area of their customer service could do with an improvement.

Pros

  • Friendly staff
  • Pleasant decor
  • Registered massage therapists specializing in prenatal massage
  • Direct Billing

Cons

  • Small team
  • The associates run a personal practice which may cause scheduling conflict

We booked a couples massage and, due to changes in our schedule, the appointment had to be rebooked twice. Love Within Pregnancy is a facility that specializes in offering various massage treatments especially geared to accommodate the specific needs of each individual may it be women, men, or even infants. Recently, they have also won the 2021 Young Entrepreneur Award so their center is a perfect fit for clients looking for a fresh yet expertly executed approach to massage therapies.

We like that they are comprised of a team that is adequately certified and trained therapists so that clients can have peace of mind that they are handling each treatment with both knowledge and experience.

Aside from this, their interior is designed to be cozy and relaxing so that clients can have an easier time soothing themselves whilst in the treatment for a better overall experience.

There have been some complaints regarding their waterbed feature which some clients may find discomfort so interested individuals may first inquire with them about their available facilities if that is the case.

Overall, with their accommodating and skillful team of professionals, innovative and comfortable facilities, along with personalized treatments, we find them ideal for women looking especially for massages and treatments to bring comfort during their pregnancy.

Customer Reviews

Here are some reviews from their clients:

“This is the first time i have stayed consistent with one massage therapist. Angela is simply the best. I have been going to her for over a year now. If you like deep pressure & to actually feel better after a massage you need to go see her!!”

“First time client and I was desperate for some relief from some muscle tension and headaches I have been dealing with during my pregnancy. I booked my appointment with Roswitha and it was the best decision I could have made for myself. Absolutely wonderful experience from top to bottom. Pressure was perfect, she knew exactly where my body needed attention and I felt incredible afterwards. I will 100% be back for more sessions.”
