Edmonton is brimming with natural and scenic camping sites. Many people visit campgrounds, campsites, and crown land camps in the prime summer months of July and August. 

If you want to destress and have a change of scenery every now and then, head out to the top camping spots in Edmonton. 

Rainbow Valley Campground 

Rainbow Valley Campground is an urban parkland that offers more than 75 campsites. 

There are 39 power sites, 29 natural sites, and sites for certain purposes such as outdoor parties, birthdays, and other events

The campsites are equipped with a small convenience store, washrooms with showers, and laundry facilities. You can also show off your cooking skills ( the traditional way) because the sites have wood-burning stoves.

It’s close to the North Saskatchewan River and Snow Valley Aerial Par, so you’ll have an excellent view of nature and wildlife.

Shakers Acres R.V. Park & Campground 

Shakers Acres R.V. Park & Campground was coined as the “Gateway to the North” because it’s situated near the top tourist sites in Edmonton. 

Now, it has more than 163 sites in the campground that can accommodate motor homes, RVs, and campers. The whole campground has access to power and water, so you can enjoy amenities such as hot showers, Wi-Fi hotspots, and laundromats

Besides that, this campground has playgrounds and picnic tables, so it’s a good spot for family camping. You can also access the fire pits, so don’t forget to bring some firewood and marshmallows to enjoy some s’mores. 

Devon Lions Campground 

Devons Lions Campground features over 100 sites. If you want to completely commune with nature, you can opt for unserviced sites.

You can have a friendly game of golf at Devon Golf and Conference Centre. Canoeing and fishing on the river are allowed as well.

Glowing Embers RV Park and Travel Centre 

Glowing Embers RV Park and Travel Centre offers RV sites on the city’s western outskirts. If you just want to try camping for a day or two, you can choose the sites with nightly rates. 

Alternatively, you can opt for permanent RV sites with weekly and monthly rates. Aside from the full-service sites, you can also access a wide variety of amenities. 

If you plan to bring the whole family on your camping trip, the kids can enjoy the playgrounds and arcade games on site. There are also over 10 golf courses in the area. 

Elk Island Retreat 

Elk Island Retreat is a private campground in Fort Saskatchewan. It’s a great spot for “glamping,” which is ideal for people who don’t want to give up the comforts of home while enjoying the beauty of nature. 

You can rent yurts, geodesic domes, and cabins on this campsite. Moreover, they also have 36 full-service RV sites.
