The Christmas season is peeking around the corner. Aside from gifts and the Christmas eve feast, many people in Edmonton look forward to get-togethers and festivities.

If you’re not feeling the Yuletide season yet, maybe a thousand twinkling lights can take you in the holiday cheer. Check out these picture-worthy Christmas light displays in Edmonton.

Christmas Light and Display Shows in Edmonton

People in Edmonton celebrate Christmas with festive light shows, joyful parties, and numerous holiday events. As Yuletide approaches, many places in the city are dressed up in fancy tinsels and twinkling lights.

Here are the places you can visit if you want to witness Christmas lights and display shows in Edmonton.

Glow Christmas Festival

The Glow Christmas Festival features over 100,000 square feet (9,290 square meters) of recreation area adorned with a million twinkling lights.

It’s traditionally held at Edmonton Expo Centre and offers illusion selfie walls, food trucks, and holiday shopping options.

It will feature a new show this holiday season, and of course, Santa’s there! The only problem is that all the presents are missing.

If you have kids, bring them so they can explore the light gardens and illuminated mazes to help Santa retrieve the lost presents. Moreover, Glow Christmas Festival also features various onstage entertainments such as princess stage shows, dance parties, and character visits.

Leduc Country Lights

Leduc Country Lights is one of Edmonton’s brightest and most expansive holiday events. For 15 years, the festival has showcased over 8 acres (3 hectares) of massive light displays and winter attractions.

It’s a nice spot for family strolls and dates. You can take the time to walk through all the displays because there are firepits along the paths to keep you warm.

The admission fee is $2, and kids under two years old can enter the event for free! Another thing we like about this event is that you can bring your beloved pets along.

Just note that your four-legged friend should remain on leash at all times. If you get hungry after your exploration, you can drop by the pizza shops or cafes around the area.

Candy Cane Lane

For over 50 years, Candy Cane Lane has brought the North Pole to the city because it’s like an art gallery filled with life-size Santas, Christmas trees, snowmen, reindeer, and bright lights.

It’s a classic holiday event that many people in Edmonton look forward to. Aside from the light displays, you can also enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride for $20 plus a service charge.

Another thing we admire about this event is that it’s one of the biggest contributors to the Edmonton Food Bank. If you come down for a visit, you can also bring non-perishable donations to support the event’s cause.

Castrol Raceway

The Magic of Lights at Castrol Raceway is a holiday event that exhibits 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) of festive and colorful LED light displays. The event’s theme typically revolves around the 12 days of Christmas and the nativity.

Since The Magic of Lights is a drive-through event, you can explore various displays on different routes in the comfort of your car.

Think this is just a straight drive throughout? Well, since it’s in Castrol Raceway, you’ll be meeting winding turns and tracks, so make sure your vehicle is in great shape when you visit.
